On speedboat tours to Hon Gam Ghi Island, May Rut Trong, May Rut Ngoai, or Rach Vem beach stretching to Ham Rong Cape..., Indian and Korean tourists can comfortably stroll, swim, and play various water sports .
At 4- and 5-star hotels in the north and south of Phu Quoc Island, tourists are always bustling in and out, waiting to check in and begin their meaningful vacation with family and friends.
"This is our first time in Phu Quoc. It's a very special moment for us. Phu Quoc has beautiful seascapes and islands. The entertainment venues are spectacular with many impressive shows, making it a truly worthy destination for international tourists to experience and travel to ," said Karol, a Polish tourist.
Mr. Nguyen Ha Trieu, Director of Nautilus Cruises in Phu Quoc, said that his company's cruise ships welcome about 400-500 guests per day (mainly from India, South Korea, and Poland...), double the number compared to last year. More than 80 employees are working at full capacity to serve tourists who come to experience snorkeling, walking on the seabed, and enjoying sunset tours that paint the sea golden.
"The APEC 2027 event contributed to bringing international tourists to Phu Quoc. International investors are flocking to Phu Quoc seeking investment opportunities. Tourism services on the island are changing and constantly improving in quality. The people are friendly, and the destination is safe and secure, so many international tourists are coming to visit," Mr. Trieu said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, Business Director of the VinWonders chain in Phu Quoc, said that the number of tourists from South Korea, China, Taiwan, Russia, as well as European and Australian tourists, are all experiencing very good growth, especially during Christmas 2025 and New Year's Day 2026.
The company is currently launching a series of large-scale festival products that will last throughout the year, such as a food and art festival from five continents, the Mermaid show featuring a unique "Santa Claus in a diving suit" in the ocean, and the million-dollar Once show, a dazzling New Year's edition with spectacular fireworks.
"International visitors to Phu Quoc will have the opportunity to explore the depth of Vietnamese identity through culinary festivals. We focus on developing unique products that harmoniously combine entertainment, festivals, culture, and nature so that each visitor leaves Phu Quoc with distinct and memorable experiences," Ms. Nhan affirmed.
We need to train high-quality personnel and develop new products.
In 2025, Phu Quoc is expected to welcome over 8.1 million visitors, including more than 1.8 million international tourists, generating nearly 44,000 billion VND in revenue. Recently, charter flights from India, Poland, Mongolia, and other countries have also increased to Phu Quoc, expanding the international tourist market.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Department of Tourism, reported a dramatic increase in international tourists to Phu Quoc in 2025. The island receives more than 50 flights daily bringing domestic and international tourists, with international flights accounting for over 50% of visitors from India and South Korea.
The Department has also finalized a plan to elevate Phu Quoc to national and international status, opening a new chapter for tourism on the island. There will be many tourism products linked to the island's cultural beauty, lifestyle, and mountainous landscapes.
These tourism products will optimally and diversely meet the needs of various tourist segments, especially those who want to reconnect with nature and enjoy a slower pace of life in rustic villages.
"In 2026, An Giang aims to welcome more than 2.1 million international tourists. To achieve this, in addition to developing new, high-quality tourism products, we are coordinating with universities and colleges in the Mekong Delta region to train high-quality tourism human resources to serve international tourists, with a view to hosting APEC 2027," Mr. Thai said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, acknowledged that Phu Quoc has received comprehensive investment in infrastructure, from airports and seaports to top-tier luxury tourist destinations, to serve tourists, especially international visitors.
"Phu Quoc is attracting investment from major economic groups in tourism and resort ecosystems, including mega-projects to prepare for APEC 2027. This event is a crucial milestone to help Phu Quoc differentiate itself, position its tourism brand on the world map, and attract a large number of international tourists," Ms. Loan said.
However, according to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, although the number of international tourists to Phu Quoc has increased significantly, it is still not commensurate with Phu Quoc's potential and existing advantages. This is due to the incomplete implementation of urban planning and development in Phu Quoc, and the overload of accommodation facilities. Therefore, more new accommodation facilities and entertainment areas are needed to serve tourists.
In addition, there is a need for destination management policies that ensure security, safety, and environmental protection. "Solutions are needed to address issues related to electricity, water, and waste, and especially the quality of human resources must meet the demands when Phu Quoc becomes a major tourism center in the country and the region," Mr. Khanh suggested.
