Across construction sites in Phu Tho province, the atmosphere is more bustling and urgent than ever. Bridges stretching across lakes and highways traversing mountains are gradually taking shape, not only connecting different regions but also fostering joy and igniting hope for a prosperous future. Key transportation projects, with strategic vision and decisive leadership, are realizing the aspiration for breakthroughs, creating a powerful impetus to exploit potential and transform Phu Tho into a dynamic connectivity hub in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

These roads carry joy and hope.

In the highland communes bordering Hoa Binh Lake, such as Tien Phong and Da Bac, the story of the new roads is a hot topic in every conversation among the locals. The Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway project, with a total investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND, is not only a massive infrastructure project but also a symbol of change. When completed, this 34km road will be the "lifeline" of transportation through these still-difficult areas, opening the door to trade and tourism .

The expanded Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh road, now in operation, shortens the distance between the former Hoa Binh area and Hanoi city.

The highlight of the project is the Hoa Son Bridge – a 1.2km long cable-stayed bridge spanning the majestic Hoa Binh Lake. Standing in Duc Phong hamlet (Tien Phong commune), Ms. Dinh Thi Thu couldn't hide her excitement as she looked towards the construction site, which was working day and night. She shared: "We've been eagerly awaiting this bridge. When it's completed, travel will no longer be difficult, and the villages along the lake will have the opportunity to develop community tourism and cage fish farming. The Vay Nua - Tien Phong road is also under construction; in just a few years, the lives of the people here will surely change significantly."

Ms. Thu's joy is also the shared joy of tens of thousands of people. The Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway is not only significant for the lake region but also has strategic importance. It connects to the inter-regional transportation system, such as the Hoa Binh - Hanoi regional road and the Da Bac - Thanh Son road, forming a complete network. In the context of Phu Tho province being newly established after the merger, this expressway becomes even more crucial, playing the role of a "backbone" connecting the Northwest region with the new administrative center and the entire Red River Delta region, promising to reduce logistics costs, boost agricultural exports, and especially awaken the dormant tourism potential.

The contractor is carrying out construction work on the Hoa Binh-Moc Chau Expressway in Cao Son commune.

Similarly, the Hoa Binh - Hanoi regional connecting road project and the Son La (Hoa Binh - Moc Chau) expressway project, with a total investment of 4,120 billion VND, are also being implemented vigorously. The road passing through Kim Boi commune is gradually taking shape, significantly shortening travel distances. Comrade Bui Van Diep, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kim Boi commune, said: "This road opens up great opportunities to exploit the potential of hot mineral water, develop tourism, and create eco-urban areas in the locality. This is the road of the future, of development."

National Highway 70 has been put into operation, facilitating and promoting trade.

Kim Boi, a land blessed by nature with precious hot springs and a unique Muong culture, is now being nurtured by inter-regional transportation projects. Located on a dynamic development corridor, Kim Boi is becoming an attractive destination for investors. Over 20 non-budgetary projects with a total registered capital of over 8,000 billion VND have been attracted, including high-end resorts such as Mandala Retreats, Yasumi Onsen Resort, and Venus Resort, gradually shaping Kim Boi's high-quality tourism brand. The goal is for Kim Boi to become a peaceful destination by 2030, with clean agriculture and a distinctive cultural ecosystem. To realize this vision, accelerating the progress of key transportation projects is a top priority, opening up new development opportunities and aiming for an ecological, modern city that retains its rich cultural identity.

Developing Phu Tho into a regional connectivity hub.

In its provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, Phu Tho has identified a more long-term vision: developing a synchronous and modern transportation infrastructure system, playing a leading role in promoting comprehensive socio-economic development. The first orientation for transportation infrastructure development is to complete inter-regional and national connecting axes. The focus is on forming a strategic transportation corridor: Noi Bai – Viet Tri – Vinh Yen – Hoa Binh, creating a dynamic axis connecting Phu Tho with Hanoi, the industrial center of Vinh Phuc, and the tourism space of Hoa Binh.

The province will prioritize investment in completing expressways passing through the area such as Noi Bai – Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang – Phu Tho, while upgrading key national highways such as National Highways 2, 6, 32, and the Ho Chi Minh Highway. The Yen Vien – Lao Cai railway system is also planned to be developed into a double-track railway, and Viet Tri station will be upgraded into a multimodal transport hub.

Secondly, the province will focus on developing a regional network and green transportation. To improve accessibility to tourist areas and alleviate congestion in the central transportation system, Phu Tho will effectively utilize the potential of waterways on the Red River, Da River, and Hoa Binh Lake, creating unique river tourism routes. Simultaneously, the province aims to promote green transportation by deploying electric buses and shuttle buses connecting key tourist destinations, building an image of environmentally friendly tourism. Roads leading to specialized tourist areas such as Xuan Son National Park and Ban Dao will also be prioritized for upgrading. Furthermore, the province recognizes that transportation serves not only tourism but also serves as a foundation for trade and industry. Based on this, it will focus on expanding two key Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in Thuy Van and Hai Linh, upgrading them into multi-functional logistics centers.

The province also aims to strengthen linkages along the strategic economic corridor of Kunming – Lao Cai – Yen Bai – Phu Tho – Hai Phong, making Phu Tho an important transit and resort center in the entire region.

Political determination, realizing aspirations.

Strategic vision cannot be realized without political determination and decisive action. The leaders of Phu Tho province have clearly demonstrated this through their continuous guidance, supervision, and efforts to resolve difficulties for key projects. Plans for the Viet Tri - Hoa Binh connecting road, the Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh road project, and the parallel road to the Hanoi - Lao Cai railway are being urgently developed and implemented. The Provincial People's Committee has assigned specific tasks to departments and agencies, requiring localities to mobilize the entire political system to accelerate land clearance – a crucial step determining project progress. The goal of completing important sections of the route has been set with specific timelines, demonstrating close supervision and a high sense of responsibility.

The roads being built not only shorten geographical distances and bring opportunities closer, but also open up new development spaces for industry, urbanization, services, and tourism. With an increasingly完善 transportation network, Phu Tho is confidently rising, asserting its position as a growth pole, an attractive investment destination, and a prosperous connecting center for the entire Northern Midlands and mountainous region. The aspiration for takeoff in the ancestral land is being realized through these strategic transportation projects.
