Juventus were upset with the referee.

The Derby d'Italy was tense from the start, and the turning point came just before halftime. In the 41st minute, Kalulu received his second yellow card after a foul on Bastoni. Earlier, the French defender had received a yellow card in the 32nd minute. Referee Federico La Penna's decision immediately provoked a strong reaction from Juventus.

Towards the end of the first half, chaos erupted in the tunnel area. Coach Luciano Spalletti, General Manager Damien Comolli, and Head of Relations Giorgio Chiellini clearly showed their anger and demanded a confrontation with the refereeing team. After the match, Comolli spoke out harshly on Sky Sports .

The Juventus general manager said: "Tonight something shameful happened, witnessed by the whole world . It's a culmination of mistakes that have occurred throughout the season. It's very difficult to accept such injustices. Action must be taken."

Regarding the team's morale, he admitted the players were disappointed and the coaching staff were frustrated. Juventus maintained that they played a good game before losing a player.

Alessandro Del Piero also sided with his former team. He considered the match very balanced before the red card and suggested that a draw might have been a more reasonable outcome. According to Del Piero, Kalulu's initial foul did not warrant a yellow card. He criticized the referee for "running over and issuing the card too quickly," and questioned the rule that prevented VAR from intervening in the second yellow card situation.

Conversely, Inter coach Cristian Chivu holds a different view. He believes that even a minor collision is still an impact, and experienced players should avoid putting the referee in a position where they have to make a decision.

Inter ended the match with a 3-2 victory. But instead of the goals, what lingered was the question of officiating and the role of VAR in crucial moments.

The result helped Inter solidify their lead in Serie A with an 8-point advantage, while Juventus remained in 4th place.
