Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Thanh, Commander of the Disaster Prevention and Control Command of Zone 1 - Huong Tra, shared: “Our unit just found the body of a flood victim who went missing last night at 10:45 PM. Tran Hoang VM, born in 2007, was swept away by the flood on the afternoon of October 29th, along National Highway 1A in Huong Tra ward. Due to the low-lying area and proximity to the Bo River with its strong currents, it took dozens of officers and soldiers from our unit and other cooperating forces, along with various types of equipment, nearly three days and nights to find the victim.”
Besides focusing on searching for missing persons, in recent days, the Command Center of Zone 1 - Huong Tra has mobilized all forces and resources to the 17 wards and 3 communes under its jurisdiction to directly assist the people, coordinate with local Party committees and authorities, and direct the Military Commands of the wards and communes to help people prevent and combat floods. In addition, the unit also organized its female staff to pack hundreds of relief packages to be sent to areas that are still isolated to urgently assist the people.
At the same time, the 968th Division mobilized hundreds of officers, soldiers, and vehicles to support Hue City in Phong Dien and Phong Thai communes. Immediately upon arrival, the division's forces were deployed to residential areas, markets, and schools, focusing on assisting the most severely affected areas.
