Quang Ninh – a land long considered a miniature Vietnam. From the vast ocean and distant islands with their gently lapping waves, to the fertile, lush green plains and rolling hills reaching to the northernmost point of the country… All intertwine and blend, weaving a landscape that is both majestic and poetic. Wherever you set foot in this beloved Northeast region, you can clearly feel the peace, tranquility, and charm of life. Not only is it a source of pride for the local people, Quang Ninh is also a dream destination, a cherished memory in the hearts of countless tourists from all over the world.
Proud of our natural treasures.
When mentioning Quang Ninh, it's impossible not to mention the World Heritage Site and natural wonder of Ha Long Bay – one of the world's most famous landmarks, honored three times by UNESCO. Few places possess such exceptional and enduring value as Ha Long Bay, whose beauty has been praised and admired from ancient times to the present day. This beauty transcends national borders, evoking fond memories in those who have encountered it, becoming an endless source of inspiration in poetry, songs, music, and art.
The beauty of Ha Long Bay lies not only in the enchanting scenery of mountains, water, and sky, but also in the wonders hidden within its rocky islands. Each island and cave is associated with legendary stories of love, culture, history, and proud national victories. In particular, the combination of environment, climate, geology, and geomorphology has made Ha Long Bay a hub of biodiversity, encompassing forest, marine, and coastal ecosystems with many endemic plant and animal species unmatched anywhere else.
Not only Ha Long Bay, but every locality in the province is blessed with unique and magnificent natural landscapes. Located next to the World Natural Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay ( thuộc Cam Pha, Van Don) is a stunning sea and island area, possessing a system of large and small rocky and land islands, pristine beaches, valuable nature reserves, and distinctive cultural and historical values. The Bai Tu Long Bay area is famous for its many beautiful, pristine beaches such as Minh Chau and Quan Lan. In particular, it is home to Bai Tu Long National Park, which boasts high biodiversity and a truly unique landscape.
Along with Ha Long Bay – a world-renowned heritage symbol – and Bai Tu Long Bay, with its pristine and tranquil beauty, Co To Island is also known as a "paradise of islands" in Vietnam. With its emerald-green waters, endless stretches of fine white sand, and rustling casuarina trees, Co To is an ideal destination for sea lovers seeking the pure beauty of nature.
Beyond its islands and coastal areas, Quang Ninh also boasts a rich and magnificent mountain and forest ecosystem. This includes the serene and unspoiled beauty of Binh Lieu, imbued with a sense of ethereal wonder. From the hues of clouds and the vast green mountains reflected on the border patrol roads, through slopes and passes, villages and rice paddies, to the majestic beauty of Khe Van waterfall, the proud Cao Ba Lanh peak, or the winding "dinosaur's spine" road.
Uong Bi is notable for the Yen Tu scenic area – a sacred Buddhist site. Since ancient times, the Yen Tu mountains and forests have been renowned for their breathtaking beauty and are considered among the most famous mountains in Vietnam. The beauty of Yen Tu lies in the majestic mountains shrouded in white clouds, harmonizing with the ancient and serene atmosphere of its system of temples and pagodas. The Yen Tu National Forest is also a large museum preserving many valuable genetic resources within Vietnam's special-use forest ecosystem. In addition, the refreshing Lung Xanh waterfall and the gentle Yen Trung lake offer a tranquil touch amidst the city.
Nature has generously bestowed its gifts, but it is the people of Quang Ninh who have further enhanced the beauty of their homeland with their ingenuity and diligent labor. The golden terraced rice fields winding along the hillsides in Tien Yen and Binh Lieu create a vibrant landscape painting every harvest season. The lush green tea hills stretching as far as the eye can see in Hai Ha, and the fruit orchards laden with ripe fruit in Dong Trieu, Ha Long, and Van Don, compel anyone passing by to stop and admire them. And somewhere amidst the clear blue waters of Bai Tu Long Bay, the aquaculture farms appear serene, highlighting the harmonious blend of human life and nature in this region.
Preserving invaluable "assets"
It can be affirmed that nature is an invaluable asset of Quang Ninh, serving as both a foundation for economic development and a crucial element in preserving the environment and cultural identity. Over the years, Quang Ninh has consistently strived to conserve and promote its natural endowments, developing long-term strategies and plans aimed at sustainable development, gradually shifting its economy from "brown" to "green." The conservation and rational exploitation of these natural values have helped Quang Ninh become not only an attractive destination but also a model of sustainable development – a "green, modern, and high-class" locality that still retains its unique character.
The province places special emphasis on protecting the integrity of the Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage site. Accordingly, the province actively directs relevant units to regularly inspect, monitor, and control activities that may affect resources and cause environmental pollution in the bay; resolutely relocates 354 households from fishing villages to resettlement areas in 2014; installs oil-water separation equipment on 100% of tourist boats operating in the bay to minimize wastewater pollution; seriously and regularly collects floating waste; and implements the "Ha Long Bay Plastic-Free" program…
Quang Ninh is also a leading province in investigating, assessing, and building biodiversity databases; pioneering the digitization of the province's Biodiversity Conservation Plan up to 2020, with a vision to 2030, facilitating conservation efforts and sustainable economic development planning.
The province also regularly directs relevant departments, functional units, and localities to strengthen inspection, control, and strictly handle violations in the environmental field; implement the restoration of coastal ecological corridors; focus on implementing projects to rehabilitate, restore, and replant coastal mangrove forests; restore and develop coral reef and seagrass ecosystems in Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and the Co To - Tran Island sea area; and actively conserve endangered and rare wild species…
Nature reserve management boards regularly organize reintroduction to maintain rare species and conduct patrols and monitoring of mangrove ecosystems, forest ecosystems, coral reefs, etc., to promptly detect, prevent, and coordinate the handling of acts that harm biodiversity values.
