Quang Ninh repairs 'Turtle Palace' in preparation for Asian Police Taekwondo tournament

The 5.000-seat Quang Ninh Province Gymnasium is the venue chosen by the Ministry of Public Security to host the Asian Police Taekwondo Championship scheduled to take place in early December 12 with the participation of more than 2024 delegates and athletes from 2.500 countries and territories in the Asian region.

Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 3 (September 9), more than 2024 m2.000 of aluminum alloy decorative panels on the outside were peeled and broken. Many other items in the complex were damaged.

According to Tien Phong reporters, many items in the Quang Ninh Province Sports Training and Competition Center complex are damaged and unsafe for use.

The roof system of the water sports stadium was broken and collapsed completely into the swimming pool area, affecting most of the items.

Some glass walls, ceilings and corrugated iron roofs of the stadium were damaged, causing leaks into the building, affecting the stands and playing field.

After the actual inspection, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, requested the investor to urgently mobilize machinery and personnel to repair damaged parts to ensure the best conditions for organizing regional and international cultural and sports events, to be completed in November 11.

A representative of the Quang Ninh Province Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Civil and Industrial Works (the investor) said that about 70% of the project has been repaired. The construction unit has brought many specialized lifting machines and replacement materials to the foot of the project.

However, the investor representative admitted that many materials are not popular, readily available on the market and must be imported, which takes a long time... causing difficulties in the work of repairing and remediating the project.

Typically, aluminum panels covering the steel structure of the building use alloy joints of Hunter Douglas, which are no longer produced and distributed on the market.

To meet the goal of putting the project into use soon, the investor calculated to use similar connections, directly produced from solid aluminum.

In the interior, many imported ceiling panels were temporarily replaced with gypsum panels in damaged areas.

The 5.000-seat gymnasium of the Quang Ninh Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center is located in Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. This is a typical cultural facility of the province, invested in a land area of ​​over 15 hectares, inaugurated and put into operation since 2018.

This is where many major activities hosted by Quang Ninh province take place, such as the 31st SEA Games, the final round of the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) in 2024, and the upcoming Asian Police Taekwondo Championship.
