On the morning of July 1st, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune, Quang Tri province, announced that they had received a Javan pangolin reported by local residents.
At the same time, we coordinated with relevant authorities to carry out the procedures for handing over the body to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for rescue operations as per regulations.
Previously, on June 29th, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune received a report from Ms. Ngo Thi Hoai Phuong, residing in Tan Xuyen village, Khe Sanh commune, regarding the discovery of a wild animal.
Upon inspection, the People's Committee of the commune, in coordination with the Forest Protection Department, determined that this was a Javan pangolin (Manis javanica), weighing over 4 kg. This is an endangered, rare, and precious forest animal belonging to Group IB, and is included in the list of species prioritized for protection according to the law.
Upon arrival, the pangolin showed signs of exhaustion, lethargy, and an injury to its right front leg.
To ensure the rescue, care, and reintroduction into the natural environment when conditions permit, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune has submitted a request to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to accept this animal in accordance with regulations.
At the same time, the local authorities have also announced that they are searching for the legal owner or manager of the animal in accordance with the law…/.
