On the morning of July 1st, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune, Quang Tri province, announced that it had received a Javan pangolin reported by local residents. Simultaneously, they coordinated with relevant authorities to complete the procedures for handing it over to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for rescue in accordance with regulations.

Previously, on June 29th, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune received a report from Ms. Ngo Thi Hoai Phuong, residing in Tan Xuyen village, Khe Sanh commune, regarding the discovery of a wild animal. Upon inspection, the People's Committee, in coordination with the Forest Protection Department, determined that it was a Javan pangolin (Manis javanica), weighing over 4 kg. This is an endangered, rare, and precious forest animal belonging to Group IB, and is included in the list of species prioritized for protection according to the law.
