TYM Fund - Empowering women to thrive

BAC NINH - Focusing on expanding its scale and innovating its activities, the Bac Ninh Charity Microfinance Fund (TYM Fund) has contributed, together with women's associations at all levels and local authorities, to improving the quality of life for many disadvantaged and low-income women members, effectively implementing poverty reduction and ensuring social security in the area.

Many practical and meaningful activities

Ms. Dang Thi Nu, from Vinh Thinh village (Lang Giang commune), is a single mother facing difficult circumstances. Her entire family, including her elderly mother and two young children, depends on her meager factory worker's salary. Their small, one-story house, measuring just over 30 square meters, built in 2009, is increasingly dilapidated, damp, and leaks during the rainy season. In 2020, Ms. Nu learned about and received guidance from TYM Fund staff in Bac Giang to participate in a savings program, contributing 200,000 VND per month to cover medical expenses. To support and share the difficulties faced by its members, at the end of 2024, TYM Fund Bac Giang branch provided Ms. Nu's family with 60 million VND to build a "House of Love." With the support of the government, various departments, organizations, and relatives, Ms. Nu's family now has a spacious new home.

TYM Fund's Bac Ninh branch provides support for new rural development projects in Cao Duc commune.

With a loan of 50 million VND from the TYM Fund's Bac Ninh branch, Ms. Pham Thi Chai (Kenh Pho village, Cao Duc commune) invested in carrot seeds and hired laborers to cultivate 5 acres of carrots on her family's land. To date, the carrots are growing and developing well, and with current market prices, they could bring her family approximately 200 million VND in profit after harvesting (2 crops).

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thoa, Head of TYM Cluster No. 48 in Cao Duc commune, the TYM Fund is proving effective with 37 customers. Of these, 25 customers borrow capital and 12 customers deposit savings. As a locality with a unique agricultural production focus, primarily cultivating short-term crops, the need for timely capital for production is very high. The TYM Fund's capital support has helped households proactively address local funding needs, investing in seeds, supplies, and production costs. This has improved farming efficiency, stabilized income, and enhanced the economic well-being of households.

Mr. Le Huu That, Director of the TYM Fund in Bac Ninh province, said: "With the goal of improving the quality of life for low-income individuals and households, especially prioritizing poor and vulnerable women through financial and non-financial services, and creating opportunities for women to participate in socio-economic activities, the TYM Fund has always focused on developing its scale, innovating its operations, and improving the quality of its products and services for poor women members in the province. To date, the TYM Fund in Bac Ninh province has 2 branches and 48 transaction points in communes and wards throughout the province with more than 17,000 participating members." In 2025, the TYM Fund of Bac Ninh province supported more than 9,000 customers in accessing loans totaling over 221 billion VND for purposes such as trading, business, services, and family economic development. To help women easily access loans, the TYM Fund has built a network of responsible and enthusiastic branch and cluster leaders who implement the program down to the village level; it does not charge application or processing fees; loans do not require collateral; and the process is quick, efficient, and timely, meeting the needs of its members.

To date, the TYM Fund of Bac Ninh province has 2 branches and 48 transaction points in communes and wards throughout the province, with over 17,000 participating members. In 2025, the TYM Fund of Bac Ninh province will support more than 9,000 customers in accessing loans totaling over 221 billion VND for purposes such as: trading, business, services, and family economic development.

Besides providing capital support, the TYM Fund also helps women accumulate savings from small amounts with simple and easy deposit and withdrawal procedures, flexible terms, and suitable interest rates to create a saving habit, build self-owned capital for each family, and promptly respond to unexpected risks in life. TYM also integrates non-financial services such as: training to improve the capacity, knowledge, and skills of women, supporting the development of production and business, improving product quality, and connecting and selling products to the market.

Implementing the program to support the construction of new rural areas, in 2025, the TYM Fund of Bac Ninh province provided funding to 3 schools on the occasion of the opening of the 2025-2026 school year in Chi Lang, Cao Duc communes and Song Lieu ward to purchase additional equipment for teaching; mobilized staff and customers to support families affected by typhoons No. 10 and 11; organized visits and presented gifts to 26 customer families who are relatives of war invalids and martyrs; awarded 43 gifts to poor and near-poor customers; provided support for the construction of "Houses of Love" and the "Godmother" program in 2025... with a budget of hundreds of millions of VND.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the Bac Ninh Provincial Women's Union, emphasized: “The TYM Fund is an important financial channel that helps women access capital easily and gradually develop sustainably. The Provincial Women's Union always accompanies and closely cooperates with TYM to expand its reach, organize propaganda activities, and support female members in need to access TYM's products and services to develop, expand production, and improve their material and spiritual lives.”

In the coming period, the TYM Fund of Bac Ninh province plans to deploy 2 to 6 transaction points in communes and wards, increasing the total number of women members participating in the TYM Fund in the province to over 19,000 in 2026. Simultaneously, it is expected to disburse over 400 billion VND to support women in difficult circumstances, develop their economy, and expand production. In addition, it will carry out activities such as: providing business and entrepreneurship training for customers; organizing visits for outstanding customers to successful economic models; awarding scholarships to children of poor members; building "Houses of Love"; and giving Tet gifts to disadvantaged member families and families under preferential policies… so that the TYM Fund truly becomes a close companion of poor women.
