Manchester United's attack has been transformed thanks to three new signings. |
While last season ended with only 44 goals in 38 rounds, things have changed under manager Michael Carrick this season. After 32 matches, MU have scored 57 goals, an increase of 13 goals compared to the entire previous season and matching the achievements of the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons. They are only one goal short of the 2022/23 season and still have 6 matches to surpass the 73-goal mark of the 2020/21 season.
Manchester United boast the third-best attack in the 2025/26 Premier League, trailing only the two title contenders, Man City (63 goals) and Arsenal (62 goals). This improvement stems from a more even distribution of goals. Five players have scored seven or more goals: Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko (9 goals), Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes (8 goals), and Matheus Cunha (7 goals).
The difference came from the three new signings in attack. Mbeumo, Sesko, and Cunha directly contributed to 35 goals and assists. This shows that the decisions made by the Old Trafford team in the 2025 summer transfer window were absolutely correct.
However, MU's style of play still has flaws. Evidence of this is that 10 out of their last 11 goals came in the second half, reflecting a slow start and reliance on the final stages. The defeat against Leeds is clear proof of this, as their sluggishness cost them dearly.
MU are seven points ahead of Chelsea in sixth place, but the upcoming fixtures present a significant challenge. After two winless matches, the pressure is mounting considerably. If they don't improve their tempo, this advantage could quickly be eroded during the crucial final stages of the season.
