According to the assessment of the authorities, although the market situation in the province has been generally stable, the situation of transporting and trading smuggled food of unknown origin, especially products that are in high demand in the market such as sausages, beef balls, squid rolls, candy, animal organs, functional foods, etc., is still complicated.
Since the beginning of the year, the Border Guard force has discovered and arrested 38 cases, 41 law violators, and seized tens of thousands of poultry, tons of meat, eggs, and animal organs of unknown origin. Typically, on April 27, in the border area of Mong Cai City, the Drug and Crime Prevention Department (Provincial Border Guard) in coordination with Bac Son Border Guard Station caught a subject using a pickup truck to transport 355kg of food of unknown origin, including lobster, grouper, sea bass, scallops, frozen lamb legs, etc. The driver confessed to transporting these goods from the border area to the inland for a fee.
Or in response to the Food Safety Action Month 2025, from April 22 to 26, Market Management Team No. 1 (Provincial Market Management Department) presided over and coordinated with relevant functional forces to inspect and detect 4 violations with a total of 6,078 smuggled food products of unknown origin, worth nearly 378 million VND. Of which, on April 26, at SK Ky Bao Ha Long store (Ha Khau ward, Ha Long city), Market Management Team No. 1 discovered 255 functional food products and dried herbs of unknown origin, worth nearly 284 million VND. Working with the authorities, the owner of the facility admitted to having purchased goods floating on the market, without invoices or documents, to sell for profit.
In order to effectively prevent the trading, transportation and trading of smuggled food of unknown origin, in the coming time, the Market Management Force will continue to inspect and control the origin of food circulating on the market; focus on monitoring the activities of units supplying input materials to food processing establishments, schools, restaurants, etc.
