On the morning of April 9th, Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with IB Group, launched the music video "Victory - Bond in Vietnam". The MV features a performance by the band Bond at the World Natural Heritage site of Ha Long Bay. Through this special musical product, Nhan Dan Newspaper hopes to spread the historical and cultural values, the beauty of Vietnam and its people to the world, contributing to the promotion and development of tourism.
Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, attended and introduced the music video and the "Bond in Vietnam" project, a collaboration between Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group.
Attending the press conference were Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province; many representatives from media agencies, travel companies, airlines, etc.
"Good Morning Vietnam" is a meaningful international music project by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group, aiming to bring top-tier international music to Vietnam while promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism. This will primarily involve creating music videos (MVs) to promote tourism, and allocating profits to charitable and social service activities.
In October 2024, over 3,000 attendees at the National Convention Center enjoyed a sublime musical experience at the Bond Live In Vietnam program. Applause echoed throughout the hall as traditional Vietnamese culture and landscapes blended seamlessly with world-renowned musical pieces.
Immediately after the performance, the four members of the band visited Quang Ninh province and filmed the music video "Victory - Bond in Vietnam" in Ha Long Bay, in the offshore island areas.
Familiar images such as sunrise over the sea, the life of fishermen in fishing villages, or the unique natural wonders of Ha Long Bay such as the Rooster and Hen Islet, Oan Beach, and especially the mysterious eye in Ha Long Bay - Dragon Eye Island… appear in the music video along with the performance of the Bond Quartet, painting a magnificent picture of the world natural wonder of Ha Long Bay.
In the music video, the four Bond girls are seen wearing traditional Vietnamese dresses, performing the classic song "Victory" on the surface of the sea, which is actually an underwater stage that sinks when the tide rises.
Spreading the values of Ha Long Bay
Speaking at the MV launch ceremony, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh said that in 2023, as part of the international music project "Good Morning Vietnam," Nhan Dan Newspaper collaborated with IB Group to invite saxophone legend Kenny G to perform in Vietnam for the first time. Following this, Kenny G's MV "Going Home," promoting tourism in Hanoi, achieved great success.
According to Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh, the second time inviting the Bond Quartet to perform in Vietnam also left a strong impression on the public. Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group decided to choose Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province, to film the music video for Bond. Promoting the country and its people through music videos is a very effective method, as it allows images of Vietnam and its people to reach a wide global audience at a reasonable cost.
The promotional effect is multiplied many times over when the music video features world-renowned artists who are loved by many people globally.
Following the success of Kenny G's "Going Home" music video, set against the backdrop of Hanoi, Nhan Dan Newspaper continues to promote Vietnamese tourism with a music video featuring a famous landmark, the World Natural Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, combined with one of Bond's classic songs, "Victory".
"We believe that the image of Ha Long Bay, a World Natural Heritage site, will spread even further to domestic and international tourists, especially music lovers around the world, when it appears in the music video 'Victory - Bond in Vietnam'," said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.
Speaking at the MV launch ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong, Chairman of IB Group, said that the success of Kenny G's first MV put a lot of pressure on the entire team. The Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper was determined to choose Ha Long Bay as the filming location for this MV because it is not only a natural heritage of Vietnam but also a world asset that needs to be promoted, preserved, and its value spread.
Unlike the "Kenny G in Vietnam" music video, which was filmed in Hanoi, the "Victory - Bond in Vietnam" music video was shot at sea, on remote islands. This likely left many unforgettable memories for the film crew, as they had to ensure the safety of the international artists while also finding beautiful shots for the music video.
Nguyen Thuy Duong recounted: "Bond's music video is 3 minutes long and took one day to film, but we spent a lot of time beforehand finding suitable locations. To produce the music video, the team went on more than 10 site visits to find locations that met the criteria. However, Typhoon Yagi blew away all the locations, so in the short time remaining, the entire team had to race against time to meet the production deadline, to bring the soul of the music into the heritage, so that the heritage could create a sublime experience in the music."
Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong also expressed his sincere gratitude to the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province and the Ha Long Bay Management Board for creating favorable conditions for the team to complete the project. He also sincerely thanked the Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group for their partnership in achieving the goal of bringing world-class music to serve the Vietnamese public, along with charitable activities for the country and showcasing the people and beauty of Vietnam to the world.
Promoting tourism development in Ha Long
Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, expressed his emotion that the music video "Bond - Victory in Vietnam" has highlighted the beauty and values of Ha Long Bay, a world natural heritage site that Quang Ninh province and its people are still preserving day and night.
"Watching this music video, I and my colleagues in Quang Ninh were deeply moved. Every day we live and work alongside heritage sites, experiencing unique emotions. But today, watching this music video, we felt those emotions reach their peak. Thank you to Nhan Dan Newspaper, IB Group, and the entire team for making those emotions soar."
Mr. Cao Tuong Huy also believes that the music video "Bond - Victory in Vietnam" will continue the success of Kenny G's music video "Going Home," winning valuable awards and spreading positive values.
Mr. Cao Tuong Huy also shared the major goals for tourism development in Quang Ninh province, such as setting a target of welcoming approximately 20 million tourists by 2025, including about 4-5 million international visitors. At the same time, the larger goal is to make Ha Long Bay a destination and a tourism center of Vietnam, the region, and the world.
Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, affirmed: "The music video 'Victory - Bond in Vietnam' brings great value to the Vietnamese tourism industry in general and Quang Ninh tourism in particular. Certainly, as soon as the music video is released to a wide audience both domestically and internationally, the number of tourists visiting Ha Long will increase. The number of international tourists coming here will also increase."
Answering a question about exploiting the new and beautiful destinations featured in the music video, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy said that organizing tourism promotion and developing destinations while preserving the pristine beauty of Dragon Eye Island is a top priority for Quang Ninh province.
"We are committed to protecting, preserving, and promoting the value of the heritage in accordance with the Law on Cultural Heritage, as well as the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Cultural Heritage. This will both maintain the pristine beauty of the island and create favorable conditions for welcoming tourists," Mr. Huy added.
According to Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh, Vietnam is renowned for its many beautiful landscapes, scenic spots, and delicious food. However, the methods of promoting tourism at many destinations are still not as effective as desired.
"Instead of continuing with conventional promotional methods, we sought a different approach: showcasing the image of our country and its people through classic music, familiar to generations of audiences both domestically and internationally. Through this, we hope to attract more international tourists' attention to Vietnam," added Mr. Le Quoc Minh.
Responding to a reporter's question about the implementation of the next projects of the "Good Morning Vietnam" program, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh said that the Organizing Committee has finalized the band and venue for this project in 2025.
"Vietnam has many beautiful places, and we hope to create a music video promoting tourism, building a collection of Vietnam's beautiful tourist destinations. I don't know how much further we could go without our partners. We thank our partners for helping us bring top-quality music to Vietnam and for continuing to support us in the future," affirmed Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh.
Impressions from the filming process
Sharing about the process of making the music video in Ha Long Bay, Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong said that when filming on the sea for just over 3 minutes, the crew had to plan for a whole year, while the Bond band only had one day to film.
"Because we had only one day to travel between four filming locations, we had to carefully plan the timing to ensure the best shots and optimal tide levels. The scene at Dragon's Eye Island had very fast tides, making it easy for the stage floor to be exposed. We had to calculate the filming speed very quickly so that the water level was just ankle-deep, allowing us to capture the Bond girls as fairies standing amidst nature."
"Not to mention, at Hon Trong Mai, when the boat approached to film the music video, it was obstructed by many tourist boats. We had to ask the Bay Management Board to intervene to preserve the scenery in this area before we could film," Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong recounted.
In the final scene, while watching the sunset on the beach, as the tide went out, the crew had to use small boats to transport the band members back to the ship.
“It was a very tiring day of filming, but the whole crew was very enthusiastic and forgot about the fatigue. We were also surprised by the enthusiasm of the Bond group. The Bond quartet expressed their love for Vietnamese cuisine and were very impressed with the beauty of the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay. The achievement we have today is the result of the determination of Mr. Le Quoc Minh, IB Group, and the production team, including the four girls from England,” Mr. Duong said.
At the press conference, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh also shared that localities, airlines, and travel agencies have a responsibility to the country by releasing music videos to promote tourism. A representative from Vietnam Airlines stated that they will soon provide the music videos to their partners for integration into the airline's aircraft, with completion expected this year.
At the launch ceremony on the morning of April 9th, the Organizing Committee presented the music video "Victory - Bond in Vietnam" to the leaders of Quang Ninh province, tourism and hotel corporations, airlines, television stations, etc., in order to spread this special musical product and contribute to promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism to domestic and international tourists.
