Aviation Magazine was created by inheriting the legacy of two magazines in the Vietnamese aviation industry. Its content and operating license are inherited from Opensky Magazine (managed by the Vietnam Aviation Business Association - VABA).
Opensky Magazine was granted an electronic press license by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, number 02/GP-BVHTTDL, on March 27, 2025. Accordingly, Opensky Magazine was renamed Vietnam Aviation Magazine , and the interface and design of both the print and electronic versions were also changed.

Regarding its name, the magazine inherits its name from the former Aviation Magazine of the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority (which ceased operations in 2014 after the restructuring and reorganization of the press).
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dr. Bui Doan Ne, Vice President and General Secretary of VABA and Editor-in- Chief of the Aviation Magazine, affirmed: "In the context of national renewal and entering an era of progress, the demand for information about the aviation industry is increasingly large and stringent. VABA and the Editorial Board of the Magazine have decided to carry out a revolution at the magazine. The magazine is undergoing comprehensive reform from content strategy, interface, design, working conditions to organization and personnel."
Under the new direction, the magazine is the mouthpiece of VABA, the voice of the Vietnamese aviation industry. The magazine truly reflects the pulse of aviation life.
At the launch ceremony, Associate Professor Tran Dinh Thien, a member of the Prime Minister's Policy Advisory Council and former Director of the Institute of Economics, highly appreciated the magazine's new strategy, direction, and goals.
“The aviation industry has the opportunity to transform and develop very rapidly domestically, reaching out to compete with the global aviation industry. The magazine needs to work alongside it to enhance the prestige and brand of Vietnamese aviation and tourism, for example, by making it clear to the world that Vietnamese aviation is among the safest in the world,” said Associate Professor Dr. Tran Dinh Thien.
Sharing the same viewpoint, Dr. Dau Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Legal Department of VCCI, offered three suggestions. Firstly, the magazine needs to more clearly demonstrate its role as a platform for experts and managers to contribute suggestions for amending, supplementing, and perfecting policies, thereby contributing to creating an equal and favorable investment and business environment for aviation businesses to accelerate their development.
Secondly, it is necessary to expedite the progress of the project to survey, select, and evaluate aviation businesses and services, and to honor aviation businesses. Thirdly, there is a need for more in-depth analytical articles evaluating each sector of the aviation industry.
Respectfully acknowledging the opinions of experts and representatives from management agencies, Mr. Pham Quoc Hop, Head of the Editorial Board of the Magazine, said: "The Editorial Board is working with a decisive and urgent spirit, 'running and queuing at the same time,' especially in searching for and attracting highly skilled and qualified personnel so that the magazine can truly be a useful companion to the industry; friendly and convenient for tens of millions of passengers and readers."
According to Mr. Pham Quoc Hop, it is the mission and aspiration that Aviation Magazine is striving for: to become an important information channel, reflecting truthfully, objectively, and comprehensively the aviation industry - a dynamic field contributing to the socio-economic development of our country.
