This is not only an important reference document but also a milestone reflecting the development and maturity of Vietnam's dental industry in the process of standardization and international integration.
In the context of Vietnam's dental industry's increasing integration with global medicine, standardizing the specialized terminology system is of paramount importance. Not only does this help unify teaching, scientific research, and clinical practice, but this book also contributes to building a solid foundation of specialized language, enabling generations of medical professionals , lecturers, students, and researchers in the field of dentistry to more effectively access international knowledge.
Speaking at the launch event, Professor, Doctor Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, said that over the past half-century, many generations of doctors, scientists , and lecturers have persistently built the knowledge foundation for the industry.
The development of a specialized terminology system has been underway since very early times, with glossary works published since the 1970s and continuously updated throughout the development of the field. This book, launched today, is the result of inheriting and developing those efforts, and reflects the maturity of the Vietnamese dental and maxillofacial scientific community.

Highly appreciating the dedication and intellect of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Cao Binh and the Editorial Board, who have devoted much time and effort to compiling, systematizing, and standardizing specialized terminology based on reputable scientific documents and practical experience both domestically and internationally, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan shared: In the context of rapidly developing modern medicine, especially in the field of dentistry with the continuous emergence of new techniques, materials, and technologies, standardizing the system of specialized terminology has become extremely necessary.
Therefore, the publication of the "English-Vietnamese Dental Terminology" is a very important step in the process of standardizing knowledge and developing the academic field.
In particular, as Vietnam is gradually implementing a national professional competency assessment examination, standardizing professional terminology is of practical significance in building a transparent and scientific professional competency assessment system.
Standardizing terminology not only helps improve the quality of training and research, but also facilitates Vietnamese scientists' connection with the international scientific community and their deeper participation in the global knowledge network.

The Deputy Minister also expressed his hope that professional organizations, training institutions, and hospitals would continue to promote research and update specialized terminology, strengthen connections with international terminology systems, and widely apply standardized documents to training, research, and practice. This is also part of the overall effort of the health sector to improve the quality of medical human resources, develop science and technology, and promote international integration in the field of medicine.
