Honor and pride
Upon receiving the news that she was the youngest delegate to attend the 13th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, Truong Nguyen An Nhien (a 10th-grade student in English Class 1 at Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted) expressed her surprise and immense pride.
"I think that my efforts in participating in Youth Union activities and extracurricular activities with enthusiasm and dedication have been recognized and trusted. That is a great honor for a student like me," An Nhien said.

From the moment she started following the information about the congress, Nhien was very impressed with the action slogan: "Self-reliance and resilience - Pioneering creativity - Mastering the future." That slogan made the female student think a lot about the role of young people in the new era. "I am particularly interested in the discussions related to innovating learning methods, scientific research, and career guidance for students from an early age. Teachers and parents always encourage us to be proactive, creative, and dare to challenge ourselves. However, to do that, students really need the right 'launching pad'. I hope the 13th National Youth Union Congress will propose specific solutions and programs to create conditions for students to develop comprehensively, from knowledge to skills," An Nhien expressed.
The female students hope to bring to the congress the voice of students regarding a modern educational environment where learning knowledge goes hand in hand with practice and experience. Besides improving the curriculum, more investment is needed in laboratories, technology-based classrooms, academic playgrounds, creative extracurricular activities, and international exchange programs. This will provide opportunities for students to hone their communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, thereby becoming more confident in shaping their future.
As a representative of Hanoi's youth attending the 13th National Congress of the Youth Union, Mr. Vu Tri Tuan (lecturer, Standing Committee member of the Hanoi Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union of the National Economics University) said he had thought a lot about the role of youth in the current period. According to him, youth should not only be the successor force but also truly become the pioneering force in the process of national development.
"I hope the Youth Union will continue to have stronger mechanisms to support young people in scientific research, creative entrepreneurship, and participating in solving practical problems of the country; and at the same time create an effective connection environment between young people and businesses, investors and the needs of the economy," Tuan shared.
Mr. Tuan also expects the Youth Union to play a greater role in equipping young people with the competencies of modern citizens, such as digital skills, foreign languages, innovative thinking, and the ability to adapt to the rapid changes in the world. "What I most look forward to at this congress is to further ignite the desire for contribution among Vietnamese youth, so that each young person is not only a beneficiary of development achievements but also becomes a direct builder of the country's future," Mr. Tuan hoped.

Bringing the aspirations of the youth from the highlands to the congress.
As someone born and raised in the mountainous region, Sung Manh Hung (a propagandist at the Dong Van Commune Public Service Center, Tuyen Quang Province) feels deeply honored and moved to be a delegate at the 13th National Youth Union Congress. For him, this is not only a source of personal pride but also an opportunity to represent the young people of the highlands, bringing their thoughts, aspirations, and desire to contribute to the largest forum for young people nationwide.
"Perhaps this is also the last time I will attend the congress as a Youth Union member. That makes me appreciate even more the years of my youth that have passed, and the opportunities to learn, train, and contribute under the Youth Union banner," Hung expressed.
Growing up amidst the mountains and witnessing the hardships of his homeland, Hung has always aspired to contribute to promoting the image of the highlands, spreading the positive values of its people, culture, and ethnic identity. Working in the field of digital media, he is even more aware of his responsibility to tell beautiful stories about his homeland using the language of the modern era, so that more people can understand, love, and support the development of mountainous regions.
"I expect the congress to be a place that inspires and connects young people who share a common aspiration to contribute, while also opening up more opportunities for the comprehensive development of young people in mountainous areas. I also hope that the voices of young people in the highlands will be heard more, so that proposals and initiatives from local realities can contribute to the overall development of the country," Hung expressed his expectations.
Representing the Nung ethnic youth, Nhac Thi Hau (Secretary of the Youth Union branch in Chinh Quan village, Luc Yen commune, Lao Cai province) also felt honored and proud to attend the 13th National Youth Union Congress as an appointed delegate. She shared: "For me, this is not only a great joy but also a responsibility to bring the voice, thoughts, and aspirations of the youth from ethnic minority areas to this important forum for young people nationwide."
As a grassroots Youth Union official deeply involved with rural youth, Ms. Hau observed that young people in mountainous regions today have many aspirations to improve themselves, wanting to study, establish themselves, and build careers right in their hometowns. However, alongside these new opportunities, young people still face many difficulties in accessing knowledge, science and technology, digital skills, and resources for economic development.
Therefore, Ms. Hau hopes that the 13th National Congress of the Youth Union will propose practical policies and solutions to support young people, especially those in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. This includes paying more attention to vocational training programs, supporting entrepreneurship, transferring scientific and technical knowledge, and improving digital skills so that young people have more opportunities to develop themselves and contribute to their localities.
