Rice is facing trouble for her inappropriate remarks.

The aftermath of the first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Atletico Madrid and Arsenal on the morning of April 30th continues to heat up as Declan Rice faces the risk of being sanctioned by UEFA.

According to The Times , the English midfielder is under investigation after making remarks suggesting that home fans influenced the referee's decisions.

The focus of the controversy stemmed from the penalty awarded to Eberechi Eze, which was subsequently disallowed. This was the play that manager Mikel Arteta believed changed the course of the match.

Many in England also criticized referee Danny Makkelie, particularly for his handling of the situation after consulting VAR.

While former players like Steve McManaman and Martin Keown pointed the finger at manager Diego Simeone's reaction, Rice offered a different perspective.

He argued that the atmosphere at the Metropolitano stadium, with nearly 70,000 spectators, put pressure on the referee, causing him to change his initial decision.

"It was a clear penalty. I don't understand why they didn't award it. I think the fans influenced the referee and made him change his mind," Rice shared.

The Arsenal midfielder also emphasized that the way matches are officiated in the Champions League is different from the Premier League, where referees often blow the whistle for more fouls and make decisions very quickly.

According to The Times , UEFA will review the match report before deciding whether Rice's statements raise doubts about the referee's impartiality. There is no specific timeframe for this process.

Currently, Rice is still eligible to play in the second leg. However, Arsenal must be cautious as the risk of losing a key player at this crucial stage remains if UEFA's review process is carried out quickly.
