At the UEFA Nations League final on the night of June 8, Cristiano Ronaldo once again affirmed his great influence, even though the match ended with many personal emotions.
After Spain took the lead twice through Martin Zubimendi and Oyarzabal, Ronaldo combined well with Nuno Mendes to score an equalizer himself in the final minute of the second half, taking his career tally to 938 goals and his 138th international goal.

Unfortunately, in the 87th minute, the 40-year-old superstar was forced to leave the field due to a thigh injury. The moment he left the field with his head held high but his eyes full of regret was reminiscent of EURO 2016.
Notably, during the decisive penalty shootout, Ronaldo did not dare to watch it live. He turned his face to Diogo Dalot's back, showing extreme tension. When goalkeeper Diogo Costa successfully blocked the penalty, bringing a 5-3 victory to Portugal, Ronaldo burst into tears because of emotion, pressure relief and overwhelming joy.
The victory brought Ronaldo his second Nations League title, and the 36th of his illustrious career. Although he is no longer in top form, he remains the spirit, the inspiration and continues the journey towards the 1,000-goal mark.
