Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development, the "Removing fences and donating land for road construction" movement has spread throughout the countryside of Lam Thao district. The people are open-minded and willing to contribute their labor and resources to create wide, spacious, clean, and beautiful roads, making the rural landscape increasingly vibrant.

After achieving the New Rural Area (NRA) status, Lam Thao district continued to build an advanced NRA district. The locality focused on mobilizing the strength of the entire political system and encouraging the people to actively participate. The movement of donating land for the expansion of rural roads, cultural centers, and other welfare facilities has spread strongly.

The wide, paved roads facilitate convenient travel for the people of Thach Son commune.

For the second time, the family of Ms. Tran Thi Lam in Zone 8, Ban Nguyen Commune, voluntarily donated land to widen the road. They did so with enthusiasm and proactively cooperated with the construction unit, demolishing their fence and moving it inward. Along with Ms. Lam, many other households along the road leading to Zone 8 also voluntarily donated land, widening the road from 3 meters to 5 meters, facilitating travel and goods transportation for residents.

Ms. Lam shared: "Expanding the road benefits us first and foremost, so why calculate or haggle? My family volunteered to donate 80 meters of land along the road to set an example for the villagers. People can travel more easily now, no longer having to wait for cars and motorbikes to pass each other; the road is beautiful and straight, so we can just keep going. We are very happy."

Identifying transportation as a challenging criterion in the advanced new rural development program, it is necessary to mobilize resources from the people, local leaders, and mass organizations. They have actively propagated and encouraged people to understand the benefits of expanding and concreting residential roads, contributing to Ban Nguyen commune's early achievement of the advanced new rural development goal by the end of 2024.

In Vinh Lai commune, thanks to the active involvement of the local government, with the people as the main actors, many households have voluntarily donated land for road construction. As a result, to date, 18.9km of main and inter-district roads and 10km of alleyways have been widened and paved, with 343 streetlights, 99 traffic signs, and 18 speed bumps, ensuring safety in residential areas and facilitating people's travel.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Luan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Lai commune, said: With the motto "The State and the People work together," many people have actively participated with the government, contributing money and labor to construct, expand, and upgrade rural roads to serve the transportation and daily life needs of the people. After the policy to expand the roads was announced, the people were enthusiastic and readily donated land, cut down trees, moved fences, and handed over the land to facilitate the construction unit.

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thu Luong, in Phung Nguyen commune, voluntarily moved their fence and donated land to widen the road.

Donating land for road construction is a long-standing initiative in the district. In 2023, it was further promoted as a movement called "Moving fences and donating land for road construction." To date, nearly 500 households in the district have voluntarily moved their fences and donated land for road construction, totaling nearly 6,000 ^{square meters,} contributing to the continued expansion and extension of rural roads.

To gain public support for the land donation movement, Lam Thao district has always focused on propaganda and mobilization efforts. Lam Thao is a region with a rich history and culture, characterized by strong family and community cohesion. People are deeply attached to things of long-standing value, such as ancestral land passed down through generations, where families live, preserve, and worship their ancestors, or land worth hundreds of millions of dong. Therefore, immediate agreement is not easy. Local authorities, especially the Front Committee in residential areas, must conduct ideological work and gradual, persistent persuasion to ensure people understand and agree. Some localities that have done well in mobilizing land for road construction include the communes of Thach Son, Vinh Lai, Ban Nguyen, Son Vi, and Phung Nguyen.

Walking along the wide, concrete inter-village roads, similar to provincial highways, in the localities throughout the district, one can better understand the meaning of "the Party's will and the people's aspirations." It becomes clear that any policy or guideline, when stemming from real-life situations and meeting the legitimate needs and aspirations of the people, will create community consensus and foster a sense of responsibility and exemplary leadership from grassroots officials and Party members.
