From the bridge connecting the two banks of the Ma River...
During the technical opening ceremony of the Cam Van Bridge construction project (Cam Van commune), many residents excitedly shared: "The construction of the Cam Van Bridge is a long-awaited dream of the people here, so witnessing the technical opening ceremony filled us with indescribable joy. With the bridge, people's travel will be more convenient, no longer having to rely on rickety pontoon bridges on the river or anxiously depending on ferries during flood season. Previously, students had a very hard time going to school, and many had to stay in rented accommodation during the rainy season. The Cam Van Bridge connects the two areas on either side of the Ma River, shortening the distance for trade, developing industries, improving the living standards of the people, and creating momentum for socio -economic development in the area..."
The Cam Van Bridge project, spanning the communes of Cam Van and Cam Tan, was approved by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee with a total investment of 330 billion VND. The structure is 1,018 meters long, including a 612-meter bridge section comprising 19 spans, and is equipped with a complete traffic safety system and lighting equipment as per regulations.
The completion and commissioning of the Cam Van Bridge not only brings joy and fulfills the expectations of the people of Cam Van and Cam Tan communes, but also conveys the trust and hopes of the people of Thanh Hoa province regarding the increasingly synchronized and smooth investment in transportation infrastructure, opening up new development opportunities, serving the travel needs of the people, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and facilitating the early formation of industrial zones in the region.
...To the key coastal economic zone connecting all directions.
As one of the eight key coastal economic zones in the country, with an extremely important strategic geographical location for socio-economic development and national defense and security, Nghi Son Economic Zone (NSEZ) has always received attention and investment from the central government and the province in infrastructure, including a synchronous and modern transportation infrastructure, to create a superior competitive advantage and open its doors to attract major investors.
We visited the construction site of the North-South Expressway project, connecting National Highway 1A to Nghi Son Port. Despite the freezing weather, the officials, engineers, workers, and laborers throughout the site maintained high spirits and enthusiasm. Everyone has been overcoming difficulties, diligently competing in labor and innovation, braving the sun and rain, organizing work in "three shifts, four teams," and achieving outstanding results to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
“Within the handed-over site, the company prioritized mobilizing manpower, materials, and specialized vehicles, overcoming all difficulties, deploying multiple construction teams, and urgently completing the assigned tasks, contributing to achieving the province's public investment disbursement target,” shared Mr. Ngo Van Thong, a construction technical officer of Thanh Hoa Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company.
Comrade Le Thanh Hai, Deputy Director in charge of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction in the Nghi Son Economic Zone and Industrial Parks of Thanh Hoa (hereinafter referred to as the Regional Board), stated: With the Nghi Son Economic Zone receiving attention from central ministries and agencies and Thanh Hoa province in investing in transportation infrastructure, this is a top socio-economic development strategy to make Nghi Son a leading economic center of the province, gradually transforming Thanh Hoa into a new growth pole, along with Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, forming a quadrilateral of development in the North, in accordance with Resolution No. 58-NQ/TW dated August 5, 2020, of the Politburo on building and developing Thanh Hoa province until 2030, with a vision to 2045. The project to connect the North-South Expressway and National Highway 1A to Nghi Son Port is of great importance in connecting inter-regional areas, forming an external transportation route directly connecting with National Highway 1 and the North-South Expressway. The regional management board has reinforced the construction site with additional staff and engineers to direct and supervise the technical aspects and quality of each project item. They have coordinated with relevant agencies, local authorities, and contractors to resolve difficulties and obstacles. They have mobilized public support to expedite land clearance; and have decisively directed the project management board and construction contractors to focus all resources on construction to ensure progress and quality.
By mid-January 2026, contractors had been carrying out simultaneous construction work on the handed-over land. The roadbed and foundation were largely completed; along the route, drainage systems were also finished; and 5 out of 7 bridges along the route were completed... achieving over 55% of the total volume.
The project to connect the North-South Expressway and National Highway 1 to Nghi Son Port commenced in February 2024 and is planned for completion in June 2027. The project comprises two routes: Route 1 is Provincial Road 512, a 10.3km section from National Highway 1 to the Tho Xuan - Nghi Son road, passing through wards and communes of Nghi Son town and the former Nong Cong district; Route 2 is the Nghi Son - Bai Tranh road, a 3km section from Ho Bridge to the interchange with the North-South Expressway, located within the former Nghi Son town.
The project will put into use inter-regional connectivity within the area, forming an external transportation route directly connecting to National Highway 1 and the North-South Expressway. It will shorten travel time between the western districts of the province and the Nghi Son Economic Zone, ensuring efficient transportation of goods and passengers, and creating a comprehensive transportation network connecting the North-South Expressway, the Nghi Son - Tho Xuan road, and regional routes with Tho Xuan Airport and Nghi Son seaport.
Developing transportation infrastructure opens up new opportunities for development.
Over the past period, in addition to the attention and support from the Central Government, with decisive and strong leadership, Thanh Hoa province has mobilized maximum resources and implemented comprehensive solutions, focusing on strengthening the connection of the province's key economic zones and promoting regional linkages. The development of planning, mechanisms, and policies has been carried out synchronously, with a long-term vision, and proactively. Transportation projects have been prioritized in terms of capital allocation, ensuring focused and targeted investment, with the largest investment being in road infrastructure.
Transportation infrastructure leads the way – paving the way for the future, connecting regions. Understanding this in its grand sense reveals a vast space for development, with transportation infrastructure as the lifeblood of inter-regional connectivity. The presence of this road will serve as a foundation for other roads to follow and open up. During the 2021-2025 period, Thanh Hoa province upgraded, expanded, and constructed over 710km of national and provincial roads, connecting dynamic economic centers, regions, and key national transportation arteries. These roads have been completed and put into use. Examples include: the road connecting the former Sam Son City with the Nghia Son Economic Zone; the East-West Boulevard of the former Thanh Hoa City, from Rung Thong town to National Highway 1A; the road connecting the center of Thanh Hoa City with the road from Tho Xuan Airport to the Nghia Son Economic Zone; and the Van Thien to Ben En road. The road connecting National Highway 1A and National Highway 45 from Hoang Xuan commune, Hoang Hoa district (formerly) to Thieu Long commune, Thieu Hoa district (formerly)... In addition to the transportation infrastructure projects that have been inaugurated and put into use, Thanh Hoa is urgently completing the construction of key transportation projects in the area such as: the coastal road section from Nga Son to Hoang Hoa, the road from Bim Son Industrial Park to the coastal road section from Nga Son to Hoang Hoa, the project connecting the North-South expressway, and National Highway 1A to Nghi Son Port...
The opening of wide avenues and connecting roads maximizes the potential and advantages, creating momentum for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and improving the lives of the people. This is vividly and concretely demonstrated by the impressive socio-economic development figures and targets that Thanh Hoa achieved in 2025.
With the mission of "leading the way," developing transportation infrastructure opens the path to the future... The road back to Thanh Hoa province is becoming increasingly clear and open!
