In 2023, Mr. A Thun, a resident of O village, Ya Xier commune, decided to switch from growing cassava to growing ghost cows on his family's 2 hectare farmland. Because, ghost cow is a forest tree commonly used for afforestation with high and long-term economic value.

Sharing about the reason for deciding to switch from growing cassava to growing cow ghost, Mr. A Thun said that in recent years, the areas planted with noodles in the family's swidden land are located in high mountainous areas. also bring economic efficiency because the land is already degraded and needs to be converted. In addition, what convinced him to make this decision was that his family saw the economic benefits of reforestation.

Through learning from the experience of the people who have planted the cow ghost tree in the area of Kon Tum city, Mr. A Thun realized that the ghost cow is a suitable plant for the local natural conditions, so he decided to invest in it. funds to buy more than 2.100 seedlings of ghost cows, fertilizers and plant protection drugs to plant on degraded upland areas.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hau - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ya Xier Commune, thanks to the promotion of campaigning and propaganda, people in the commune have actively registered to participate in afforestation, many people have paid for themselves. forest planting. Up to now, Ya Xier commune has planted 114ha of forest.

“Agriculture is a suitable economic development direction for people in the commune. In the coming time, the Ya Xier commune government will continue to promote mobilizing households with eligible productive land to boldly invest in afforestation," said Mr. Hau.

In Sa Binh commune, after receiving the directive documents from the Commune Party Committee, the Sa Binh Commune People's Committee strengthened the Working Group to direct, urge and guide people in the area to register to participate in the planting project. and take care of forest trees in 2023.

The number of households registered to participate and the total afforestation area of Sa Binh commune in 2023 has increased significantly compared to 2022. In 2023, Sa Binh commune has 35 eligible households to be supported by the State to plant trees. 22,4 ha of forest (eucalyptus trees), 9 households registered to plant 14 ha of forests themselves (star tree, mother of pearl, eucalyptus) and 45 households registered to participate in the State project to support the planting of 28,2 ha of macadamia trees.

Mr. A Thuy - Chairman of Sa Binh Commune People's Committee said that eucalyptus, star or macadamia trees are all forestry crops suitable to local natural conditions and have high economic value. From 2019-2022, Sa Binh commune has planted 123,15ha of forest, of which, 5ha of macadamia trees. The afforestation sites are located in hilly areas bordering the communes of Ya Xier, Ya Ly and Sa Nghia of Sa Thay district. Implementing the afforestation plan in 2023, currently, the whole Sa Binh commune has planted 14,5 hectares of forest.

According to data reported by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Sa Thay district, in 2023, the provincial People's Committee assigned the target for Sa Thay district to plant 563 hectares of new forest.
