After more than three months of temporarily suspending operations to facilitate runway and taxiway repairs, Lien Khuong International Airport is entering a phase of accelerated construction, completing the final items before reopening.

These days, at the largest airport construction site in the Central Highlands region, hundreds of engineers, workers, and numerous specialized machines and equipment are working continuously to ensure the project's progress.

According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), after more than three months of implementation, many key items have been completed or have achieved a high construction rate. In particular, the runway and taxiway foundations and the material shoulders have been 100% completed. The crushed stone base for the project has also been fully completed.

Regarding the pavement structure, the lower crushed stone base layer has reached approximately 97% completion, while the upper crushed stone base layer has also reached approximately 97% completion. Items related to the technical cable system, such as cable runs across the runway, taxiways, and cable runs on the ground, have been completed 100%.

The runway and taxiway repair project at Lien Khuong Airport was started by ACV in early March. To facilitate construction, the airport has temporarily suspended operations since March 17th, affecting air transport to Da Lat and Lam Dong province for several months.

According to ACV's latest plan, Lien Khuong Airport is expected to resume operations from August 19th if construction progress and acceptance testing proceed smoothly. This is considered good news for Da Lat's tourism industry as well as for people in the Central Highlands region, as the demand for air travel is increasing.

ACV stated that the upgrade of the runways and taxiways will not only help ensure flight safety but also enhance the airport's service capacity in the coming years. Upon completion, the project is expected to better meet passenger transportation needs, contributing to the socio -economic development and tourism of the locality.

Currently, the construction units are continuing to focus manpower and equipment to complete the remaining tasks, preparing for the acceptance phase and bringing the project back into operation.
