"Racing against time" to serve the Lunar New Year

Besides focusing on improving quality, they also prioritize improving designs and innovating distribution channels to bring consumers the best products during the traditional Lunar New Year... Many production facilities and cooperatives have received orders early, intensified promotion, and continuously strived to expand production and business.

At the Ba Lieu Me sesame brittle production facility in Cam Le District ( Da Nang City), the atmosphere has been bustling for weeks. During Tet (Lunar New Year), the number of orders has surged, forcing the facility to hire more workers and increase production shifts to meet delivery deadlines. Mr. Huynh Duc Sol, the facility's director, said: “This year, Tet orders came earlier than usual and in larger quantities. About a month ago, we received orders and started production to meet customer demand. Currently, the number of orders is at its peak. To ensure timely delivery, we have had to encourage workers to work overtime. We expect to produce between 300,000 and 500,000 packages of biscuits this Tet, an increase of about 30% compared to the same period last year and double the usual amount.”

In Quang Nam , OCOP (One Commune One Product) certified seafood producers are also rushing to complete their products for the Tet (Lunar New Year) market. At the Binh Minh Seafood Production and Trading Cooperative in Binh Minh commune, Thang Binh district, the atmosphere is bustling. To ensure timely supply, the cooperative has mobilized all its personnel to fill, bottle, label, and transport products to distributors inside and outside the province. Besides traditional fish sauce, the cooperative also offers a variety of other products such as anchovy paste, squid paste, fermented fish paste, and shrimp paste. Mr. Do Minh Vuong, the cooperative's chairman, shared: "Customers today increasingly prefer traditional products, especially those certified under the OCOP program, because they ensure food safety and are good for health."

Besides focusing on producing individual products, many establishments also offer unique Tet gift baskets to cater to gift-giving needs. At Do 37 Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative in Ngu Hanh Son District (Da Nang City), Tet gift baskets are available at prices ranging from 250,000 VND to several million VND per basket, offering customers a variety of choices to suit their gift-giving needs this Tet holiday.

Many OCOP products are developing both in appearance and quality to serve the Tet holiday.

Improve both quality and design.

Over the 7 years of implementing the OCOP Program (2018 - 2024), Quang Nam province has had 479 products from 376 entities recognized as meeting OCOP standards. Of these, 419 products achieved 3 stars, 60 products achieved 4 stars, and 5 products were submitted to the central government for evaluation and ranking at the national 5-star level. These products include Saphraton health supplement (Nam Tra My), Tra My cinnamon essential oil (Bac Tra My), Tien Phuoc pepper (Tien Phuoc), MITRI TEA - Ngoc Linh ginseng tea (Phu Ninh), and Quy Thu baked coconut cake (Que Son).

According to Mr. Tran Van Noa, Head of the Rural Development Sub-Department of Quang Nam province, the OCOP program has helped local specialty products establish their brands and expand their markets. Mr. Noa further shared: “Many OCOP products not only have good quality but also feature attractive packaging, making them easily accessible to supermarket chains and organic food stores. This not only contributes to rural economic development but also aims towards export.”

In Da Nang, traditional confectionery producers such as Ba Lieu Me sesame brittle, Tuy Loan rice paper, and My Phuong baked coconut cakes are actively improving their designs to suit the tastes and atmosphere of the Lunar New Year. Mr. Nguyen Kim Dung, Vice Chairman of the City Farmers' Association, said: “We always support farmers in accessing loans, connecting them with markets, and guiding them on using online sales platforms. Traditional confectionery producers have all seen a significant increase in orders this year.”

A prime example is My Phuong Food Co., Ltd., located in Hoa Son commune, Hoa Vang district (Da Nang city). Towards the end of the year, the company launched a special edition of its baked coconut cookies with brightly designed packaging, reflecting the festive spirit of Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year). Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi, the company's director, shared: “We are constantly researching and developing new products to meet market demands. This year's Tet edition has not only been well-received by the domestic market but has also been ordered by many businesses as gifts for their partners.”

OCOP (One Commune One Product) production facilities in Central Vietnam have been proactively focusing on developing both the form and quality of Tet (Lunar New Year) products to meet consumer preferences, actively contributing to the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign and promoting local economic development.
