Proud to exercise my civic rights for the first time.
On March 15th, young voter Trinh Hong Doan Trang (born in 2003, residing in residential area 7, An Cuu ward) will exercise her rights and civic duties for the first time by participating in the election of representatives to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. At the age of 23, Doan Trang cannot hide her excitement mixed with pride as she holds the ballot in her hand - the sacred symbol of the people's right to self-governance.
"Each stamp on the ballot is not just a personal choice, but also a way for me to express my trust and expectations in the representatives who are virtuous and talented, and who will always care about the thoughts, aspirations, and development directions of the younger generation in An Cuu ward in particular and the whole country in general," Trang shared.
Not only participating as a voter, Trinh Hong Doan Trang is also the Secretary of the Youth Union branch in residential area 7 and actively collaborates with the An Cuu Ward Youth Union in election propaganda work. Besides organizing thematic meetings and direct propaganda conferences, the Ward Youth Union has also pioneered the application of technology, producing AI-powered videos to summarize laws and provide election-related information, contributing to spreading a sense of responsibility and raising awareness among union members and young people.
Ms. Le Thi Hue, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the An Cuu Ward Youth Union, said that recognizing the election as a key political task, the unit proactively developed a well-structured propaganda plan and closely coordinated with the ward's departments and agencies to implement it comprehensively and effectively. The An Cuu Ward Youth Union paid special attention to widespread propaganda among all segments of the population, especially young people participating in elections for the first time. Many thematic meetings on the theme "Youth and Civic Responsibility" were organized, thereby promoting the role of branch secretaries in directly campaigning in residential areas.
"Our goal is for 100% of union members and young people to participate in voting fully and in accordance with regulations, contributing to building An Cuu ward into a civilized, friendly, safe, and sustainably developing area," Ms. Hue emphasized.
Supporting and empowering young voters.
In Thanh Thuy ward, in order to raise legal awareness and promote the role of young voters, the local Youth Union organized a campaign to disseminate information on the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies to its members and young people in the area.
The youth union members were briefed on the core contents of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies; the rights and obligations of citizens; and the principles of democratic, equal, direct, and secret ballot elections. This helped young voters understand the election process and procedures, and enhanced their sense of responsibility in exercising their civic rights.
Young voter Nguyen Hong Bao Tram (12th grade, Huong Thuy High School) shared: “This is the first time I’ve held a ballot in my hand, and I’m both excited and nervous. Thanks to the specific information and guidance, I understand more clearly the meaning of the election as well as my responsibility. I will carefully research information about the candidates to choose those who are truly worthy.”
Mr. Nguyen Quang Duc, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Thuy Ward and Secretary of the Thanh Thuy Ward Youth Union, said that in addition to propaganda work, the unit also organized environmental sanitation campaigns and beautified and decorated the polling station area to ensure a clean, beautiful, and dignified space, creating an atmosphere of excitement leading up to the great event of the whole people. This activity demonstrates the proactive spirit, responsibility, and readiness of the youth of Thanh Thuy, contributing to the overall success of the election work in the locality.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city and Secretary of the City Youth Union, the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is a great festival for the entire population, with the active participation of Youth Union members and young people aged 18 and above. This is not only a right but also a responsibility, an opportunity for young people to demonstrate their democratic spirit, courage, and civic responsibility through their votes, choosing truly virtuous and talented representatives. Besides propaganda work, the Youth Union and Associations from the city to the grassroots level are also proactively coordinating with departments and agencies in the political system to mobilize the people to participate in the election, contributing to ensuring that the election takes place safely, legally, and successfully.
For young voters participating in the election for the first time, initial confusion is inevitable. Therefore, the Youth Union has intensified guidance and provided information on the election process, procedures, and schedule through social media and the Hue-S application, helping young people proactively understand and prepare fully before election day. Propaganda work is maintained regularly and continuously to encourage Youth Union members and young people to actively participate in voter outreach events and boldly express their thoughts and aspirations to candidates for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels. Through this, they can exercise their right to self-governance and voice their opinions in political and social life.
