- Following President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "Spring is the time for planting trees, making the country ever more vibrant," every spring, the tree planting and reforestation movement in the province takes place enthusiastically and widely, with the "Tree Planting Festival in eternal remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh" being a prominent highlight. To date, all communes and wards in the province are ready for this meaningful program.
Over the years, forestry has made a significant contribution to the overall socio-economic development of the province. Specifically in 2025, the province planted 10,973 hectares of concentrated forest, achieving 121.93% of the plan; and planted 5 million scattered trees, achieving 225.27% of the plan.
Concentrated raw material production areas are maintained and developed, such as: pine growing areas of over 155,000 hectares; anise growing areas of over 54,000 hectares; acacia growing areas of over 51,000 hectares; eucalyptus growing areas of over 29,000 hectares; cinnamon growing areas of over 10,000 hectares… The value of forestry production in the province is estimated to reach over 4,200 billion VND in 2025. The value of forestry production has made a significant contribution to the overall socio-economic development of the province.

In 2026, the entire province aims to plant approximately 9,000 hectares of new forest. To achieve this target, all levels and sectors are focusing on implementing various solutions, including organizing the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh," which will be held on February 23, 2026 (the 7th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse) throughout the province. The organization of this tree planting festival holds significant meaning; therefore, preparations are being closely supervised and implemented urgently by all levels and sectors.
Mr. Hoang Van Chieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: To implement the program, the department advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan on organizing the "Tree Planting Festival in memory of President Ho Chi Minh" and launching a campaign to build rural roads, irrigation systems, clean water, and environmental sanitation in the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026. This plan clearly assigns specific tasks to each agency and unit, along with the timeline for implementation…

Based on the provincial People's Committee's plan, the People's Committees of communes and wards proactively developed plans and implemented specific tasks to prepare for the tree planting program. Mr. Trinh Minh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Son commune, said: "Immediately after receiving the provincial People's Committee's plan, the commune People's Committee developed a plan to organize the 'Tree Planting Festival to Forever Remember Uncle Ho' and launched a campaign to build rural roads, irrigation systems, clean water, and improve environmental sanitation in the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026." Accordingly, the commune People's Committee directed relevant units to select locations, quantities, and species of trees (26 cherry blossom and pear trees) and actively propagated and mobilized the people to plant forests, contributing to environmental protection and promoting socio-economic development.
Similarly, Diem He commune proactively developed a plan and organized a campaign to plant 850 wild sunflowers along several roads and plant 1,000 acacia saplings for households in the commune on the 7th day of the first lunar month.
Mr. Luong Van Ty, from Phu Nhuan village, Diem He commune, said: "My family received 1,000 acacia saplings from the government to plant at the beginning of the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026. We have already dug holes and prepared the site and materials to ensure the reforestation is carried out according to schedule."
Along with the two aforementioned communes, other communes and wards in the province have proactively developed plans and completed preparations to implement the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" program on the 7th day of the first lunar month.
According to data from the Provincial Forestry Department, the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" program in the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 is expected to plant 56,777 trees throughout the province, equivalent to over 53 hectares. This includes approximately 14.5 hectares of peach trees; about 9.5 hectares of ornamental and shade trees; and over 24 hectares of forestry trees, with key species such as star anise, acacia, cypress, macadamia, cinnamon, eucalyptus, black ebony, and teak…
Immediately following the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh," relevant levels and sectors continued to promote the dissemination of information about the purpose and significance of tree planting and reforestation; prepared seed sources; implemented policies to support forest development; and created favorable conditions for people to develop forest-based economic activities in accordance with regulations.
Preparations for the tree planting festival have been completed. The results achieved at the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" program in the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 not only created a green, clean, and beautiful landscape but also provided motivation and momentum for the province to strive to complete the target of planting 9,000 hectares of new forest in 2026.
