Candidates can check their exam scores on the Ministry of Education and Training 's exam management system, the electronic portals of the Departments of Education and Training, or through media outlets that the Ministry has collaborated with to announce the results.
After receiving their scores, from July 1st to July 5th, candidates who wish to appeal their results can submit their applications at the place where they registered for the exam. By July 7th at the latest, localities will issue the Certificate of Exam Results and return the academic transcripts to the candidates.
The 2026 high school graduation exam has over 1.22 million registered candidates, the highest number ever, an increase of 61,642 candidates compared to 2025 and approximately 156,000 candidates compared to 2024.
This year, the grading process continues to be carried out according to strict procedures to ensure objectivity and accuracy. Multiple-choice tests are graded entirely by machine using specialized software from the Ministry of Education and Training. For the Literature subject, the tests are graded in two independent rounds.
Notably, this is the first year the Rubric has been applied to grading essay-based Vietnamese language exams. This method uses a specific system of criteria and scoring scales to reduce subjectivity and ensure consistency in the evaluation process.
With an open-ended approach to exam questions, the answer key and marking guidelines also encourage creative thinking, respecting the arguments and viewpoints of candidates as long as they are logical and meet the requirements of the question.
The exam results are not only used to determine high school graduation eligibility but also serve as a basis for admissions at many higher education institutions.
According to the admission regulations from 2026 onwards, candidates must achieve a minimum of 15 points out of 30 in the three-subject combination used for admission (excluding priority points and bonus points) to be eligible to register for university admission.
From July 2nd to 5 PM on July 14th, candidates can register, adjust, and add their preferences on the Ministry of Education and Training's system. This year, each candidate can register a maximum of 15 preferences instead of the unlimited number in previous years.
After receiving their exam scores, candidates should refer to the cutoff scores from previous years and consider the combination of subjects for admission, tuition fees, geographical location, quality of education, and job opportunities to choose suitable options.
