Le Van Tam Primary School in Lao Cai City launched a "Week of Practical STEM Product Making using Recycled Materials"; after only one week of implementation, the project attracted more than 1000 students to participate in making products. The school's management board conducted the first round of judging, selecting 300 creative products to advance to the second round. At the end of the second round, the judging panel selected nearly 100 creative, aesthetically pleasing, and thematic products to award prizes.
These products will be displayed at the "Open Day," scheduled to be held in October. This is a very meaningful activity, organized by the school, with a wide reach, mobilizing the advice and guidance of parents from the idea generation stage, using materials to the product creation stage. Indeed, with this STEM project, the judges had difficulty deciding on the awards and giving high prizes to products that were equally creative and talented, such as: the painting "My Home Garden" made from various materials by Tran Quynh Chi, class 1A3; the toy bicycle made from parachute cord by Gia Huy, class 2A3; the pencil case by Nguyen Phuc Dai, class 3A3; the lantern by Hoang Nam, class 4A2; the set of household items by the group of authors from class 5A1...
Participating in the competition has contributed to fostering creativity and active participation in experiential learning; linking learning with practice contributes to the formation of qualities, character, and abilities of learners. This achievement also contributes significantly to the implementation of the 2018 general education program.
