Amid speculation about the 33-year-old's future, President Teixeira told Radio Bandeariantes : "We are talking to Neymar's team. This is a step forward; we are making significant progress in negotiations and are very close to a new agreement so that Neymar can stay for a while longer."

Neymar's future has become a hot topic after his father confirmed talks with clubs participating in the UEFA Champions League. Previously, there were reports that the Brazilian star wanted to return to Europe when his short-term contract with Santos expired.

President Teixeira also emphasized: "We hope this will happen as quickly as possible. However, we can't rush it. If Neymar doesn't renew his contract, that doesn't mean he won't play in the next matches. That's not true. We don't need Neymar to play right now. I'm very hopeful for a favorable outcome."

According to Globo Esporte , Neymar has expressed frustration with the playing and management environment at Santos since rejoining the club in January. Currently, Santos is only above the relegation zone in the Brazilian league thanks to goal difference. Neymar's recurring injuries have also increased tension between him and the coaching staff.

Neymar's current contract with Santos expires at the end of 2026. However, with signs of dissatisfaction, his continued commitment to his hometown club is being seriously questioned.
