At 1:00 AM this morning (September 19th), the Ngoi Mong bridge on provincial road 445 connecting Ky Son ward to Hop Thanh commune (Hoa Binh city) subsided and by 4:00 AM the same day, the bridge's approach section had collapsed.
Previously, due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3 and its aftermath, authorities had cordoned off the bridge with warning signs, prohibiting people and vehicles from crossing. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage to vehicles at the time of the bridge collapse.

Immediately after the incident occurred, the Hoa Binh City Police diverted traffic and closed access to the bridge to ensure the safety of the public.
The Ngoi Mong Bridge is approximately 30 meters long and 4.5 meters wide. It was built a long time ago using load-bearing steel beams, without central piers, and only has two bridge abutments on either side. The bridge serves the needs of the local people, mainly for motorcycles and cars.
