According to Neowin , the latest report comes from leak expert Digital Chat Station on Chinese social network Weibo, saying that an Android smartphone with 24 GB RAM is about to launch. Although the specific name for the brand behind the product has not been given, Digital Chat Station said that "Oga" has started working to bring this RAM level to the market. Oga is the name referring to manufacturers Realme, OnePlus and Oppo.

24 GB RAM on smartphones is considered overkill

At the moment it is still unclear which company in the Oga group is developing the smartphone with 24 GB RAM, only that this memory level will appear as a top option, while its standard variant will have 16 GB RAM.

24GB is a lot of RAM for a smartphone, but the question is, is it too much? A few years ago, many people were surprised to see Android phones with 200MP cameras, but the high megapixel count didn't really change the game in the photography industry.

So it will be interesting to see how companies will interpret 24GB of RAM for the user's workflow. While hardware requirements will depend on how the user uses the phone, 8GB of RAM is considered enough for most people. Meanwhile, those who want to futureproof their needs can choose 12GB or 16GB. Even a dedicated gaming smartphone can only need 16GB.
