The Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) is currently directly managing 13 grassroots trade unions and more than 1,300 grassroots trade unions with nearly 45,800 union members. Of which, the whole province only has nearly 70 full-time union officials, so the task of propagating, mobilizing, and grasping the thoughts and aspirations of union members is quite a heavy task for the union organization. Recognizing the role of the press, over the years, the Provincial Federation of Labor has increased coordination with press agencies to jointly reflect events, activities, and legal policies related to unions.
Accordingly, the Provincial Federation of Labor has signed a regulation on coordination in implementing the "Trade Union Labor" column with the Provincial Newspaper and Radio and Television Station; every month, 2 periodic columns are published in print newspapers and broadcast on television. At the same time, the provincial press agency also regularly reports and reflects on activities and current issues related to trade unions, union members and workers. In addition, the Provincial Federation of Labor also has a regulation on coordination with a number of central press agencies to improve the effectiveness of propaganda about trade union activities in the press. On average, each year, the press agencies publish nearly 1,000 news, articles, photos... reflecting on the activities of Lang Son trade unions.
Ms. Hoang Ngoc Thuy, Head of the Professional Department, Provincial Federation of Labor said: Thanks to the press and media, the propaganda activities of the provincial union are becoming more and more effective.
Through the spread of the press, the Party's policies, the State's laws and related rights have reached a large number of Vietnamese workers. From there, it helps them promptly grasp and proactively protect their own rights.
For example, from the information: "Lang Son City Labor Federation and DK Viet Nhat Electric Vehicle Company Limited signed a cooperation agreement on welfare for union members" posted on the electronic newspaper of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station on April 25, many union members learned about this welfare program and registered, thereby enjoying the right to buy electric vehicles at preferential prices. In 2024 alone, in Lang Son city, 35 union members enjoyed this welfare program with a total preferential value of over 250 million VND. Ms. Hoang Thi Tuyen, a union member of the 8/3 Kindergarten, Lang Son city, said: Thanks to reading the information in the newspaper, I learned about this program. Buying a car at a preferential price has helped me save part of the cost to support my family.
In addition, reporters and journalists also contribute to creating a bridge of dialogue between the Vietnam Workers' Union and enterprises and trade unions. Ms. Vu Thi Nhan, reporter in charge of the "Trade Union Labor" column, Lang Son Television, Newspaper and Radio and Television Department, shared: In implementing the column, I focus on exploiting and propagating practical policies for the Vietnam Workers' Union such as social insurance, health insurance, labor safety, etc. At the same time, I regularly participate in dialogues between union leaders and workers at enterprises to reflect their thoughts and aspirations. These real-life stories are included in articles and television reports, helping workers see that their voices are heard and reflected to relevant levels and agencies.
It can be affirmed that over the years, the press has contributed to supporting the provincial trade union to fulfill its goals of caring for and protecting Vietnamese workers. From 2024 to present, the whole province has admitted over 4,000 union members to the trade union; over 4,000 Vietnamese workers have enjoyed preferential treatment from welfare programs with a benefit amount of nearly 500 million VND.
In the coming time, when the trade union organization has a rearrangement of organization and apparatus with the main goal of targeting union members who are workers and laborers in enterprises, the press agency will continue to accompany the trade union organization to promote propaganda with the goal of focusing on the grassroots, promptly reflecting the thoughts, aspirations and recommendations of the Vietnam Workers' Union. At the same time, actively promote good models and creative ways of caring for and protecting workers in enterprises, thereby contributing to building the image of the trade union organization, the team of trade union officials who are truly representatives of union members and laborers...
