The establishment of the unit not only marked the beginning of the task of managing and protecting national border sovereignty in the locality, but also laid the foundation for a 50-year journey of persistent building, fighting, and maturing of a border guard unit in the vast Tây Nguyên highlands.
A strong border defense
In its early days, the unit's officers and soldiers faced countless challenges. Their base was in vast, dense forests of dipterocarpus and cypress, with rugged terrain, harsh climate, and rampant forest mosquitoes, wild animals, and malaria. Infrastructure was almost non-existent, and daily life and work relied primarily on makeshift bamboo huts and thatched roofs.

Through propaganda and mobilization efforts, the people voluntarily surrendered 5 military firearms, 74 homemade guns, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, making a significant contribution to maintaining stability in the area.
Responsible for the border commune of Ia Lốp – where ethnic minorities account for over 50% of the population and the poverty rate is 54.06%; the mark of the soldiers in green uniforms is even more evident. The Ea H'leo Border Guard Post maintains 12 Party members participating temporarily in 12 village Party branches, assigns 17 Party members to be in charge of and assist 77 disadvantaged households, and regularly understands the thoughts and aspirations of the people.
