After the Lunar New Year of 2024, the lotus flowers at Bau Trang began to bloom. The pink and white petals stood out against the blue of the lake and the pristine white of the sand dunes, creating a pure and unspoiled natural landscape. On the lake's surface, young women in colorful ao dai dresses took turns posing for photos to commemorate the scene of hundreds of pink lotus flowers in full bloom.
Tourists visit and take souvenir photos at Bau Sen.
Ms. Le Thi Tam, an employee of the Bau Trang Community Tourism Area, shared: “During the lotus season, the lake is covered with pink lotus blossoms, so Bau Trang is called Bau Sen (Lotus Lake) by the locals. The lake has a rich and diverse ecosystem, with dozens of large fish species that have lived in the lake for many years. After conquering Trinh Nu Hill, tourists come here to sit in boats on the lake, immersing themselves in the pink lotus blossoms and their fragrance in a romantic and interesting atmosphere. Nature has bestowed upon the sunny and windy land of Hoa Thang a scenic beauty that few other places possess. Although the climate here is sunny and windy, the white sand dunes are not scorching hot like other sand dunes; the foot of Trinh Nu Hill always has a moist sandy area, with fresh, cool air, thanks to the cooling water from Bau Sen Lake…”. The nature at Bau Trang is like a landscape painting. The white of the sand dunes, the blue of the water and the sky, and the pink of the lotus blossoms blend together to create a pure and romantic space. In March, the lotus flowers in Bau Trang begin to bloom, the lake's surface is calm, clear blue, and in some places tinged with the pink of the blooming lotus blossoms. Visitors to the Bau Trang Community Tourism Area not only climb Trinh Nu Hill to admire the vast sky and sea, feel the cool breeze from the ocean; admire the endless dragon fruit plantations, the white sand dunes surrounding the lake, or enjoy the fragrant scent of the lotus flowers.
Bau Trang boasts two large, clear blue lakes, known locally as Bau Ong and Bau Ba. Between the two lakes lies a vast expanse of sand dunes and towering casuarina forests. Bau Ba covers approximately 70 hectares with an average depth of 5-6 meters, surrounded by undulating white sandbanks that change with the seasons. This is a natural freshwater lake that never dries up. For generations, the water from Bau Trang has supplied the daily needs of a large residential area in Hoa Thang and Hong Phong. From March to July each year is the lotus blooming season; green leaves and pink and white lotus flowers cover the lake's surface, creating a truly captivating sight. The lotus blooming season not only attracts tourists but also many couples from dozens of kilometers away choose the pink lotuses of Bau Trang as a highlight for their wedding albums; the photos taken on the lake are incredibly romantic. Ms. Nguyen Hong Tham from Da Lat ( Lam Dong province ), who visited the Bau Trang scenic spot one early spring day, shared: “It was truly fascinating and captivating to witness firsthand the clear blue lake reflecting the shimmering white sand dunes of Trinh Nu. It can be said that this is a wonderfully beautiful natural landscape in a region full of sunshine and wind. Anyone who has ever been here – the revolutionary land of Hoa Thang – Khu Le of yesteryear – will never forget this scenery…”
