Ahead of the match against Bournemouth on December 16th, manager Ruben Amorim confirmed that Sesko will continue to be absent due to food poisoning, further delaying his return.
Previously, the Slovenian striker had been absent since the beginning of November following a knee injury sustained in the match against Tottenham.
Manchester United are facing difficulties as their two attacking stars, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, are about to return home to fulfill their national team duties at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, forcing Amorim to place his trust in remaining players like Joshua Zirkzee and Matheus Cunha. The fact that Sesko is still unavailable further increases the pressure on these forwards.
Nevertheless, Sesko's representatives have sent an optimistic signal. Speaking to Arena Sport , agent Elvis Basanovic stated that the 21-year-old striker is recovering on schedule and is eager to return to playing.
“Benjamin feels fine, the recovery process is going well. He really misses the feeling of being on the pitch and is a little impatient. However, the timing of his return will be decided by the medical team and the coach. I believe everyone will see him playing again soon,” Basanovic shared.
Basanovic also suggested that the trio of Cunha, Mbeumo, and Sesko haven't had much time playing together, and they need more matches to develop the necessary chemistry.
