On July 22nd, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the additional enrollment quotas for 10th grade in public high schools.
On the afternoon of July 19th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training issued guidelines for supplementary enrollment of 10th grade students for the 2024-2025 school year in high schools that have not yet filled their quotas.
Some cases are considered based on the cutoff score of the first choice.
Accordingly, the conditions for participating in the supplementary 10th grade entrance exam are that students have not been admitted to any public high schools and must have 10th grade exam scores in the three subjects of mathematics, literature, and foreign language, plus priority points (if any), greater than or equal to the cutoff score for the third choice of the public high school they wish to apply to.
Each student is only allowed to register for supplementary admission to one public high school that has not yet filled its assigned enrollment quota and cannot change schools after submitting the supplementary admission registration application.
Specifically for students who have studied at junior high schools in the districts of Can Gio, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, and Thu Duc City, if they register for schools in the same area as their junior high school, their total entrance exam score will be considered based on the cutoff score of their first choice at the public high school they wish to apply to .
In particular, the Department of Education and Training also noted that Thu Duc City is divided into 3 areas: Area 1 includes schools from the former District 2, Area 2 includes schools from the former District 9, and Area 3 includes schools from the former Thu Duc District.
According to examiners from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this is a new point in the regulations for supplementary 10th grade admissions this year. The 2023-2024 school year marks the first year Ho Chi Minh City is implementing supplementary 10th grade admissions, applying common conditions to students throughout the city. However, in the second year, based on practical considerations, the Department of Education and Training is creating opportunities for students who have attended junior high schools in the districts of Can Gio, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, and Thu Duc City if they register for supplementary admission to high schools in the same area. Considering the scores based on first-choice preferences in these areas creates opportunities for both students and schools that are still facing difficulties in 10th grade admissions.
After successful candidates complete the enrollment process, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will review and announce the additional enrollment quotas.

Students wishing to apply for supplementary admission must submit their application directly to the high school, including the grade report of their 10th-grade entrance exam results issued by their junior high school and bearing a red stamp.
The supplementary 10th grade admissions councils of schools are responsible for receiving applications within the specified timeframe, ensuring that only candidates meeting the aforementioned conditions are accepted; based on the remaining enrollment quota and the exam results of the supplementary applicants, they will be ranked from highest to lowest until the quota is filled.
According to examination officials from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, after public secondary schools complete the direct acceptance of 10th-grade admission applications on July 20th, the Department will review the enrollment quotas of each school based on this information. On July 22nd, the Department will announce the list of schools conducting supplementary 10th-grade admissions and the supplementary enrollment quotas for each school so that parents can register if needed.
High schools will be accepting applications for supplementary admissions from July 22nd to 5 PM on July 27th.
On August 6th, schools announced the list of candidates admitted to the 10th grade in the supplementary admission round for the 2024-2025 school year.
