Soc Trang opens additional sand mines to serve the expressway project.

The MS12 sand mine in An Lac Tay commune, Ke Sach district, is being exploited to serve the first phase of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project, which passes through Soc Trang province. The sand mining method at the MS12 mine is open-pit, with a total mineral exploitation fee exceeding 4.2 billion VND.

The MS12 sand mine covers an area of ​​over 60 hectares, with a total permitted sand reserve for leveling purposes of 628,003 m3 over 14 months. Of this, the extraction capacity from January to July is 78,000 m3/month, equivalent to 3,000 m3/day. From months 8 to 13, the extraction capacity is 12,000 m3/month, equivalent to 462 m3/day, and in month 14, the extraction capacity is 10,003 m3/month, equivalent to 385 m3/day.

Sand mining has begun at the MS12 mine to serve the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project, phase 1.

Mr. Ngo Thai Chan, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Soc Trang province, said: "The MS12 mine has large reserves of high-quality sand. Besides this mine, contractors working on the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway are also steadily exploiting river sand at mines MS01 and MS03 and preparing to exploit mine MS04. For the Can Tho – Ca Mau north-south expressway project, the contractor has been granted the right to exploit mines B1.2 and B1.2 by the Soc Trang provincial authorities. Of these, mine B1.1 is currently being exploited steadily."

The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project is over 188 km long, with a total investment of nearly 44,700 billion VND. The project starts at National Highway 91 in Chau Doc City (An Giang province) and ends at Tran De port in Soc Trang province. The section passing through Soc Trang province is approximately 56 km long.
