Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh are connected by the North-South "thousand-mile" highway. In recent years, these two localities have been attractive destinations not only for domestic tourists but also for international visitors thanks to their rich natural resources and unique traditional culture.
Many unique festivals are recreated.
In the early days of the new year, when visiting Thanh Hoa, tourists cannot miss the famous historical and cultural site of Lam Kinh - the birthplace of national hero Le Loi, the origin of the Lam Son uprising to drive out the Ming invaders. Here, visitors will be immersed in legendary stories about the Later Le Dynasty, discover the centuries-old banyan tree with its intertwined branches, hear stories about the ironwood tree that sacrificed itself to rebuild the Lam Kinh palace, and visit the gold-plated main hall...
Mr. Trinh Huu Anh, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Ho Citadel Heritage and Key Relics of Thanh Hoa Province, said that the unit is currently managing four key cultural, historical, and spiritual relic sites: the Ho Citadel heritage site, the Lam Kinh special national relic site, the Am Tien - Den Nua relic site, and the Ba Trieu Temple relic site. "To prepare for the festival season, over the past several months, we have been renovating the space, continuing to refresh the festivals, and developing many new and unique programs so that visitors can have more experiences when exploring Thanh Hoa during the spring days," Mr. Huu Anh shared.

According to Mr. Huu Anh, for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, Lam Kinh and Ho Dynasty Citadel will continue to offer free admission to tourists. Specifically, Ho Dynasty Citadel will offer free admission from the 25th day of the 12th lunar month until the end of the 1st day of the Lunar New Year; Lam Kinh will offer free admission from the 29th day of the 12th lunar month until the end of the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year.
Besides free admission, throughout the spring, tourist destinations will host a series of attractive cultural activities such as: Recreating the atmosphere of "Traditional Tet in the Ancient Citadel," recreating the traditional Tet pole-raising ceremony, calligraphy festivals, Dong Mon village festivals, the opening ceremony of the temple dedicated to King Le Thai To, the Trung Tuc Vuong Le Lai festival, the Ba Trieu temple festival, the ceremony of opening the "Heaven's Gate" on the top of Nua Mountain... "Among the cultural activities, the traditional Tet pole-raising ceremony and the traditional Tet festival have been recreated for many years at Ho Citadel, offering visitors many new experiences," Mr. Huu Anh said.

While Thanh Hoa boasts cultural and historical tourism as its strength in the early spring, Ninh Binh is an attractive destination for nature exploration and spiritual tourism, with many must-see attractions such as Trang An, Bai Dinh Pagoda, and Tam Chuc Pagoda; and unique festivals like the Tran Thuong Temple rice distribution ceremony, the Tran Temple festival, and the Tich Dien festival.
In recent years, eco-tourism in Trang An has become an extremely attractive destination for tourists in the early spring. Mr. Bui Van Manh, Director of the Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Tourism, said that to gradually enhance the value of Trang An, the province has been researching and planning to create new tourist destinations associated with ecology and history. The locality has also recently put into operation a new tourist destination, "Thung Ui" - a place associated with the story of King Dinh Tien Hoang establishing the Kinh Thien altar to inform heaven and earth, proclaiming himself emperor, and choosing Hoa Lu as the capital. This destination is creating a sensation on social media because it is built in a valley, surrounded by limestone mountains, creating a beautiful and romantic landscape like a historical film set.
"Upon arriving at Thung Ui, visitors will explore from the Kính Thiên (Heavenly Mirror) platform, through the Kính Địa (Earthly Mirror) platform, the Kính Nhân (Human Mirror) platform, then to the Kính Thiên (Heavenly Mirror) temple, followed by the Kính Thiên altar. Continuing deeper into the valley, the boat dock allows visitors to experience Thung Ui from a new perspective, recreating the Mường cultural space with its unique festivals. From this space, along the spiritual and cultural axis connecting with the Bái Đính Pagoda spiritual and cultural tourism area, a very diverse cultural center has been formed," Mr. Bùi Văn Mạnh further informed.
Many places will be open throughout the Lunar New Year holiday.
For the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, Da Nang City will welcome spring in a vibrant yet culturally rich atmosphere, where traditional festivals, contemporary art, and local experiences blend together, creating a seamless spring travel journey from the city along the Han River to the heritage site of Hoi An.
During Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), Da Nang organizes many activities imbued with the spirit of spring, such as the Spring Fair 2026, the An Hai Folk Tet Festival, the Traditional Tet Space, the Tet Market, and the Vietnamese Tet 2026... Activities such as making banh chung (traditional rice cakes), receiving calligraphy from calligraphers, folk games, and performances of Tuong (traditional opera), Bai Choi (traditional folk singing), and folk chanting are held in many public spaces, allowing locals and tourists to not only enjoy but also directly immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Vietnamese Tet.
A special highlight of the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ) is the New Year's Eve fireworks display in the center of Da Nang city and Con Bap Tourist Area (Hoi An). Following this, the spring atmosphere continues with the Light and Heritage Festival at Hoi An Memory Island, the Tulip Festival at Sun World Ba Na Hills, the God of Wealth Festival at Than Tai Mountain, the Lantern Festival, and many traditional craft village and folk festivals.
This year, during the Lunar New Year holiday, many tourist areas, attractions, museums, and historical sites in Da Nang City will remain open throughout the holiday. In addition, more than 1,500 flights are expected to operate to Da Nang during the holiday period (from February 14th to 22nd), and hotel occupancy rates for 4-5 star hotels are expected to reach 80%-90%.
