Market is bustling at the end of the year.

The end of the year is always a "peak season" for consumption, and this time is no different in Thai Nguyen. Demand for shopping is increasing rapidly across most product categories, from food and beverages to clothing, children's products, and items for the Lunar New Year. Businesses report that the market has entered its most vibrant phase, a crucial period that determines revenue for many industries and provides impetus for the province's growth.

Proactively securing supply sources helps stabilize prices.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade's assessment, from now until the end of 2025, consumer demand will continue to increase sharply, focusing on essential goods and products for the Lunar New Year. Food, beverages, winter clothing, personal care and children's products, and Lunar New Year gifts all recorded cyclical increases in consumption.

One prominent trend is the clear shift towards online shopping. Large-scale promotions, the expansion of sales platforms, and convenient delivery services are helping e-commerce maintain its leading role in the market, especially for Vietnamese products with competitive prices and diverse designs.

Simultaneously, spending on technology, smart home appliances, and home decor products also increased as many families renovated their homes in preparation for Tet (Lunar New Year). Electronics and furniture businesses reported a steady increase in customer traffic since the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2025, especially after Typhoon No. 11.

Currently, Thai Nguyen province has 199 markets (including 5 Class I markets, 14 Class II markets, and 180 Class III markets), 5 large-scale shopping centers, 16 general and specialized supermarkets, along with a system of convenience stores, self-service stores, and warehouses stocking essential goods. Many large retail businesses and distributors have developed early stockpiling plans, increasing their inventory by 10-20% compared to the same period last year to ensure there are no empty shelves or shortages.

Mr. Truong Hoang Trung, Director of Aloha Supermarket (Song Cong Ward), said: The unit proactively prepared its inventory from the beginning of the fourth quarter, with imports increasing by about 20% for the peak period. The supermarket prioritizes products with clear origins, traceable sources, and that meet food safety requirements to ensure consumers can shop with peace of mind.

Many discount programs are being implemented at supermarkets throughout the province during the year-end period.

At BK Mart Supermarket ( Bac Kan Ward), Ms. Phung Thuy Huong, Manager of BK Mart Supermarket, said: "We planned our Tet holiday stock early, focusing on essential goods and gift baskets. This year, BK Mart Supermarket is more proactive in terms of supply to meet the shopping needs of the people."

Consumer demand is projected to continue increasing in the coming weeks, but retailers affirm they will maintain stable prices, publicly display prices, and ensure the supply of essential goods. Stockpiles of items such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, meat, and other necessities have been increased to mitigate the risk of shortages or price fluctuations during the peak year-end period.

Various solutions to stimulate consumer demand.

Towards the end of 2025, the Thai Nguyen market entered its most vibrant phase with an increasingly fierce "race" to stimulate demand among businesses. While previously promotions mainly focused on direct price reductions, this year retailers have expanded their scale and changed their approach, creating a more diverse shopping landscape.

At supermarkets, convenience stores, and shopping malls, many year-end discount programs are being widely implemented, focusing on essential consumer goods. Many businesses and cooperatives are introducing Tet (Lunar New Year) product sets and gift combos tailored to different customer groups. Notably, OCOP agricultural products and local specialties are receiving additional investment in packaging and design to increase their competitiveness in the market.

Ms. Ha Minh Doi, Director of Ha Diep Co., Ltd., said: This Tet holiday, the company is focusing on key products such as golden flower tea, bud tea, bamboo shoots, etc. The quality has been recognized by consumers, so the company is focusing on innovating packaging to increase brand recognition and make them suitable as gifts. Many agricultural product gift combos are also being offered at the end of the year to meet increasingly diverse needs.

Businesses in the food, beverage, and household goods sectors continue to introduce new products to meet early Tet holiday shopping demand. Some retailers are boosting multi-platform sales models, combining in-person displays with livestream product introductions, in line with the rapidly growing trend of online shopping.

To stimulate the market in the fourth quarter of 2025, the province is organizing many large-scale activities such as: the Thai Nguyen 2025 Agricultural Products - OCOP - Traditional Craft Village Festival associated with tourism; the 7th Week of Exhibition and Promotion of Typical Cooperative Products; the Vietnam - Korea Economic and Cultural Exchange Program; and the Exhibition to promote and advertise tea brands…

These events help expand exhibition and shopping spaces, support businesses in promoting OCOP products and distinctive agricultural products, and create opportunities for consumers to access high-quality Vietnamese goods. They also promote sustainable consumption trends, encourage the use of domestic products, and contribute to increasing the value of local goods. Trade promotion activities also provide a boost to year-end revenue, helping businesses expand their markets and bring their products closer to consumers.

The market at the end of the year is often highly volatile, so authorities need to proactively maintain supply and price stability. The Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with local authorities, continues to implement price stabilization programs, guiding businesses to prepare appropriate quantities of goods to meet increased demand; at the same time, advising people to choose reputable sales points to avoid counterfeit goods.

Market management forces are intensifying peak inspection campaigns and strictly handling acts of commercial fraud, production, and trading of counterfeit and fake goods to ensure a safe and transparent shopping environment. Mr. Nguyen Van Nham, Deputy Team Leader of Market Management Team No. 4 (Thai Nguyen Market Management Department), said: "During the end of the year, demand increases rapidly, so the unit is stepping up inspections to prevent substandard and counterfeit goods, ensuring people have access to safe products at fair prices."

Consumer trends in the last months of 2025 continued their upward trend. Thanks to the proactive efforts of businesses, the involvement of relevant authorities, and the positive purchasing power of the people, the Thai Nguyen market maintained stable growth, making a significant contribution to the local economy and people's lives.
