Live... decently

The 100 exemplary individuals featured in Vietnam Television's "Acts of Kindness" program were honored with a cordial meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace on the afternoon of April 16th. They are fragrant blossoms in the nation's "garden of kindness."

Each person has a story, and their actions, as shared at the meeting, are "small" and "ordinary" in everyday life, yet truly precious. These include Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marie Curie School ( Hanoi ), who is fostering 23 orphaned children from Lang Nu Village (after Typhoon No. 3 in 2024); Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong and her husband, who are caring for 102 elderly, sick, and homeless people; and war invalid Nguyen Trung Chatt, founder of the Hope Center, who is fostering 305 orphaned children...

Each story of exemplary acts of kindness is like a "drop of nourishing milk," nurturing and fostering faith in humanity among millions of Vietnamese people, leading to a more positive and optimistic outlook on life. One person shared on their personal Facebook page after watching the "Acts of Kindness" program: "I am attracted to people with gentle voices, who know how to say thank you and apologize. For me, a person's kindness is more important than their appearance. Therefore, I will also try my best to be as kind as them, I must be kinder to truly be worthy of them."

Looking back at the two cases of producing, selling, and consuming counterfeit milk powder and counterfeit medicine recently uncovered by authorities, which shocked and alarmed the public, it becomes even more precious to acts of kindness amidst the hustle and bustle of life, where people live fast, hastily, and only for themselves... Without delving into the illegal actions of the organizations and individuals involved, it is clear that disregarding the health and lives of customers for illicit gain is unethical, unconscionable, and inhumane. Using counterfeit medicine and milk poses a high risk of serious consequences for customers. If the product is completely counterfeit, like flour, it has no medicinal properties. If it is partially counterfeit (insufficient dosage, incorrect ingredients), it not only has no medicinal effect but also causes many other harmful side effects...

Kindness isn't something extraordinary; it's very ordinary. It's about being careful, thorough, cautious, and thoughtful in your work, your lifestyle, and how you treat others, especially knowing how to put yourself in someone else's shoes. People live to love each other. If you can't love each other enough, then at least be kind to each other. For example, if you accidentally bump into someone in traffic, instead of immediately fighting, show concern, inquire about the situation, calmly analyze the fault, and then consider the consequences. Or, when children are playing together at school, why do parents hastily engage in physical conflict?

Put yourself and your loved ones in the shoes of patients who need medication and nutritional supplements from formula milk...!

Being kind to oneself and those around you is a beautiful way of life that should always be strived for. The more kind people there are in society, the more civilized, healthy, and full of humanity it becomes. Slowing down a bit, putting yourself in each other's shoes to carefully consider everything before deciding or acting... that too is an act of kindness.
