Soobin is ambitious and proud, what's wrong with that?

Soobin once recounted that 15 years ago, his mother yelled at him, "Go to school!", but he was determined to become a singer. Now, he has the recognition of both his parents, as well as thousands of fans.

At that time, Soobin's mother wanted him to learn piano and become a musician. But due to family circumstances, he decided to pursue singing and join the underground music scene.

Seven years ago, the singer, then still known by his stage name Soobin Hoang Son, recounted how he and his mother would sometimes lie in each other's arms crying, after his mother had said "I've exhausted all options" but couldn't change his mind.

The boy from the past is now ambitious and proud.

During the All-Rounder concert, Soobin cried again, but not for the same reason as before. On the big screen was a video of his parents telling him how proud they were of him. Even though he's grown up, in their eyes, he'll always be little Soobin, the kind of boy his mother "just wants to hug whenever she sees him."

As for his father, he was still the same boy from the old days, only as tall as a zither, engrossed in playing the instrument with an innocent face.

That boy has now become an "ambitious and proud" singer in the eyes of many, including his fans.

Because the concert is titled All-Rounder, the ticket categories are named The Soul, The Vocal, The Visual, The Dance, The Lyric, The Melody, The Flow, The Hit, and The Harmony.

Those names are nothing short of an unspoken affirmation: Soobin has it all. From soul, voice, appearance, dance, lyrics, melody, flow, hits, harmony.

Or even if they don't have it all yet, they're aiming for it. Not everyone dares to aim for that. For a singer to make such a declaration is already ambitious.

In a culture still heavily influenced by the saying "It's better to master one trade than to dabble in nine," Soobin aspires to become a multi-talented artist. Multi-talented doesn't just mean knowing how to do many things, but also excelling in each field and aspect.

In particular, the moment Soobin wore an outfit inspired by the traditional Vietnamese four-panel dress and performed a fan dance in the performance of "Sitting Leaning Against the Boat's Edge" (a Quan Ho folk song from Bac Ninh ) reminded some netizens of J-Hope, the talented main dancer of the group BTS, when he performed the opening dance for their "Idol" performance at the 2018 MMA music awards.

Comparisons are flawed, and the two performances are not identical, but the common inspiration lies in the artists celebrating their country's culture and possessing versatile performance abilities.

Previously, no artist in Vietnamese showbiz had been recognized as "all-around talented." Typically, those who can sing, rap, compose, and play several musical instruments are considered very skilled, but it's rare for someone to be good at everything.

And it wasn't just at the All-Rounder concert that Soobin revealed his ambitions. He named his fandom Kingdom – and the audience already knows who the king is. When Soobin performs, he often associates himself with the concept of kings and princes.

He calls his fans "princesses." It's a rather Disney-like atmosphere, but undeniably powerful as well.

Soobin is a versatile and unique figure in Vietnamese showbiz.

Currently, thanks to the immense popularity of his song "Brother Overcoming Thousands of Obstacles" in 2024, Soobin is also one of the highest-paid singers in the market, second only to a few singers implicitly recognized by the performing arts market as "S-list stars" (My Tam, Ha Anh Tuan, Son Tung M-TP, Den Vau...).

The All-Rounder concert was criticized as "excessively expensive" with its top-notch sound and lighting effects, technology, and performances in Vietnamese music, leading many to fear that Soobin and his team would suffer heavy losses. But many jokingly said, "Soobin will recoup his losses if he works hard and does more shows."
