Phu Tho Xoan Singing:

International tourists learn about Phu Tho Xoan singing at Hung Lo communal house.
Looking back at the 2020-2025 period, the province's foreign relations activities have not only served as a tool to expand economic cooperation but have also become a channel for promoting natural and sustainable culture. The Department of Foreign Affairs has proactively coordinated with relevant sectors, especially the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to integrate the Xoan singing heritage into most major political and diplomatic events.
Images of artisans in traditional costumes, singing melodious Xoan songs, have appeared at major events such as "Vietnamese Culture Day" in Laos, France, Japan, or "Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in Hanoi". Through these events, Xoan singing has truly become a "cultural brand for foreign relations" of Phu Tho province.
A notable highlight in the promotional efforts is the creation of a firsthand experience for international visitors. Instead of just watching performances on modern stages, many diplomatic delegations, journalists, and international organizations from Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States have been invited to visit ancient Xoan villages such as the Lai Len Temple.
Here, they had the opportunity to directly listen to artisans teach them, and participate in dances and songs within the spiritual atmosphere of the ancestral land. These genuine emotions have been transformed into in-depth articles and reports in international media, helping to spread the image of a friendly and culturally rich Phu Tho.
Besides direct activities, external information dissemination on digital platforms has also seen remarkable progress. In the digital age, promoting heritage is no longer limited to traditional paper publications. The Department of Foreign Affairs has pioneered the implementation of "digital cultural diplomacy" through the fanpage "Phu Tho Integration - Phu Tho and The World," the province's electronic portal, and bilingual Vietnamese-English newsletters.
Video clips and documentaries about Xoan singing and the Hung Kings worshiping tradition are meticulously produced, allowing the global public and the Vietnamese community abroad to access this heritage anytime, anywhere. This is especially significant in connecting the younger generation of overseas Vietnamese with their national roots.
However, given the increasing demands of international integration, the task of promoting Xoan singing in the next phase requires more groundbreaking and professional steps. According to the provincial foreign affairs department's orientation, the top priority is to further integrate cultural diplomacy into investment and tourism promotion activities. Each international cooperation program of the province should not only bring economic opportunities but also carry the "Xoan singing imprint" through publications, diplomatic gifts, and multilingual multimedia presentations.
In particular, the application of modern technology to heritage preservation is an inevitable trend. The province plans to build a digital ecosystem with a website and a specialized application called "Hat Xoan Phu Tho - World Heritage". The application of virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) will create "virtual Hat Xoan spaces," allowing users anywhere in the world to enjoy and learn about the meaning of each melody. This is key to bringing the heritage closer to young people and international friends who are very tech-savvy.

The next generation of "Xoan" saplings follows.
Besides technology, the human factor remains crucial. Enhancing the capacity of cultural diplomacy staff, from international communication skills to foreign languages and in-depth knowledge of heritage, is a key task. Simultaneously, it is necessary to strongly promote public-private partnerships, encouraging businesses and overseas Vietnamese to participate in promoting Xoan singing through sustainable social mobilization.
With the concerted efforts of the entire political system, the community of artisans, and the support of international friends, we believe that Phu Tho Xoan singing will continue to shine in the new era. This heritage is not only a treasure of the past but also a powerful spiritual resource, contributing to affirming the position of a strong Vietnam, rich in identity and always ready to connect with the world through the path of culture and peace.
