Việt NamViệt Nam10/10/2024

Not only vibrant in the summer, as the year draws to a close, Quang Ninh's tourism sector focuses on organizing a series of unique and impressive cultural and sporting events, and developing new and distinctive tourism products for the autumn and winter seasons. Through these efforts, the province is determined to achieve its goal of welcoming 19 million visitors in 2024, realizing its aim of becoming an attractive year-round tourist destination.

Exciting events

Despite the severe damage inflicted on Quang Ninh's tourism industry after Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi), with tourism activities halted for about a week, the province's tourism sector, with the concerted efforts of the entire political system and the people, quickly overcame the consequences and is ready to resume operations and welcome tourists back during the autumn-winter tourism season.

9,000 athletes from running clubs and groups enthusiastically participated in the VnExpress Marathon Amazing Halong 2024, conquering the beautiful running routes through the Bai Chay - Hon Gai area (Ha Long City) despite the heavy rain.

On the morning of September 22, 2024, the VnExpress Marathon Amazing Halong 2024, with the participation of 9,000 athletes from running clubs and groups, conquered the beautiful running routes through the Bai Chay - Hon Gai area (Ha Long City), demonstrating the rapid recovery of tourism in Quang Ninh.

Mr. Chu Van Hanh (from Bac Giang province) shared: "Although I was aware of the significant impact of Typhoon No. 3 on Ha Long, after more than 10 days since the storm passed, my first time participating in a race in Ha Long truly surprised me with the city's efforts to recover and organize such a large sporting event. The race course showed almost no signs of the typhoon's impact; it was very wide, spacious, and beautiful, especially the coastal route. We spent time in Ha Long enjoying ourselves and sightseeing."

Besides events that stimulate tourism, annual tourism products in Quang Ninh during the Autumn-Winter season are also being implemented to attract visitors. Accordingly, Binh Lieu continues to organize a series of attractive activities within the framework of the Binh Lieu Culture and Tourism Week 2024, taking place from October to the end of December 2024, with the highlight being the Golden Harvest Festival and the So Flower Festival. Visitors will not only be able to admire and enjoy the beautiful natural landscapes of the highlands with the golden ripe rice fields, the poetic reed flower season, and the pristine white So flowers along the border patrol road, but also immerse themselves in the vibrant and joyful atmosphere of the festival, rich in the traditional culture of the Tay, Dao, and San Chi ethnic groups through cultural exchange activities, arts, sports, folk games, traditional cuisine, etc.

Yen Tu (Uong Bi) is also a top destination in Quang Ninh during the autumn and winter seasons. In recent years, the Legacy Resort and the Lang Nuong Village at Yen Tu, owned by Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company, have maintained and updated their products to serve visitors during the autumn and winter, such as "Peaceful Autumn," "Gratitude and Wishes," "Watching the Sunrise," meditation, and body-mind care products… all based on the unique historical, cultural, and natural values of Yen Tu. In addition, the Yen Trung Lake tourist area, the scenic spots of Phuong Hoang Hill, and Binh Huong Peak… are also attractive destinations in Uong Bi during this time.

Besides Binh Lieu and Uong Bi, other localities in the province are proactively diversifying their products and gradually exploiting the advantages of autumn and winter tourism. Mr. Nguyen Hai Linh, Head of the Culture, Information and Tourism Department of Co To, shared: "Not only does Co To have beautiful natural landscapes, but it also consistently has the best air quality index in the North, with unique scenery and biodiversity. Therefore, Co To focuses on exploiting these advantages to attract tourists for sightseeing, relaxation, and therapeutic tourism in autumn and winter at destinations such as the Love Road, the Lighthouse, and the pristine mangrove forest; experiencing new tourism products on Thanh Lan Island such as trekking through the forest, exploring new beaches C76 - C7 - Vung Tron - Tam Thao - Dau Trau…

From now until the end of the year, many more attractive tourism events at the provincial and local levels are expected, promising unique experiences for visitors, such as: the Uong Bi Golden Autumn program; the San Chi ethnic cultural and sports festival in Soong Co; the Duc Ong Hoang Can Temple Festival - San Diu ethnic cultural and sports festival (Tien Yen); the Ban Vuong Festival (Ba Che); the Van Don Orange Season Week; the AMTA running race on the Bach Dang Heritage Route 2024 (Quang Yen); the Quang Ninh Food Festival 2024; the Winter Carnival; and the New Year's Eve Countdown program 2025…

Speed towards the finish line

Cruise tourism currently plays a crucial role in attracting and increasing the number of international tourists to Quang Ninh province. Autumn and winter are also peak seasons for cruise tourism, with the majority of visitors concentrating in Ha Long. To prepare for the 2024-2025 cruise tourism season, and to promote the growth of cruise tourism in particular and international tourism in general, the tourism industry is striving to enhance the value of destinations, proactively connect with cruise lines, and improve service quality.

According to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, the cruise tourism season runs from October 2024 to December 2025. It is expected that Quang Ninh will welcome approximately 60 cruise ships, bringing over 100,000 international tourists to Ha Long. Specifically, from October 18th to December 30th, 2024, 14 cruise ships are expected to dock, operated by companies such as Costa Serena, Viking Orion, Seven Seas Explorer, Celebrity Solstice, Le Lapouser, Mein Schiff 6, Seabourn Encore, and Noordam. Each ship will carry a maximum of 3,500 passengers and a minimum of 200 international tourists to Ha Long for sightseeing and relaxation for a period of 1/2 to 1 day. In addition, in the last months of this year, the province plans to open more sea tourism routes from Beihai City, Guangxi (China) and from Guangzhou City (China) to Ha Long City, to attract more tourists from this region.

For visitors arriving by air, the province will also coordinate with tourism businesses to develop flight routes through Van Don International Airport, such as: the Wuxi, Jiangsu, China - Van Don, Quang Ninh route (expected 2 flights/week, starting from October 2024); and the Jeju, South Korea - Van Don, Quang Ninh route (expected to start from October 2024). At the same time, it will continue to connect with tourism businesses to open other international tourism routes from China, South Korea, and domestic routes from the Southern region to Quang Ninh via Van Don International Airport. This will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of Van Don and the Ha Long tourism center to international tourists this year-end and in the long term.

Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh hot spring resort is a particularly attractive destination in Cam Pha during the autumn and winter months.

Reportedly, from January to September 2024, Quang Ninh welcomed 15.6 million visitors, a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 98.1% of the 9-month growth target. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 36,856 billion VND, a 39% increase compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 97.8% of the 9-month growth target.   Encouragingly, out of 15.6 million visitors, nearly 2.6 million were international tourists, mainly from markets such as China, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, India, France, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. We believe this positive result is an important foundation for Quang Ninh's tourism sector to accelerate towards its goals, further affirming its position as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination for domestic and international tourists, and deserving to be one of the province's growth pillars.
