On the evening of December 17th, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command announced that after receiving medical care, the health of the two crew members involved in the cargo ship sinking incident had stabilized.

Previously, as Thanh Niên newspaper reported, the cargo ship Gia Bảo 19 (a type of cargo ship with 9 crew members on board, departing from Hai Duong to Dong Nai ).

The ship was carrying 1,870 tons of coal, captained by Mr. Bui Van Hung (residing in Diem Dien commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province ).

On December 17th, as the ship was sailing near Chan May port (Thua Thien - Hue), it encountered bad weather and large waves that caused the hatch to collapse, and water flooded into the ship.

The fishermen were handed over at the border control station.

Then Captain Bui Van Hung ordered the crew to leave the ship; everyone fell into the sea, but 7 crew members were rescued by the Hai An ship passing nearby and brought to Chan May port.

Two crew members were swept away by the waves. Fortunately, the fishing vessel QNg 98294 TS from Quang Ngai province, captained by Mr. Tran Thanh Quang (45 years old, residing in Phuoc Tan hamlet, Phuoc Tinh commune, Long Dien district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), spotted the two crew members wearing life jackets drifting at sea.

According to Captain Tran Thanh Quang, the fishing vessel QNg 98294 TS departed from the Man Quang Border Guard Station on December 6th, with 9 fishermen on board engaged in trawling.

After several days at sea, on December 17th, the boat returned to shore to sell its catch. Upon reaching the area at coordinates 16.42 degrees north latitude and 108.05 degrees east longitude, they spotted two people wearing life jackets drifting and calling for help.

At the time they were rescued by the fishing vessel QNg 98294 TS, the two crew members had drifted at sea for about 6 hours in cold weather and rough seas.

The fishing vessel brought the two crew members back and handed them over to the Man Quang Border Guard Station (Son Tra Border Guard Post). After receiving them, the unit deployed medical personnel to examine and provide healthcare to the crew members.

By the evening of December 17th, the two crew members had recovered and were conscious.
