The power of unity among the people

Việt NamViệt Nam07/10/2024

In the first nine months of 2024, the Fatherland Front at all levels and political and social organizations in Quang Ninh province effectively carried out the task of gathering and mobilizing all strata of the people to effectively implement patriotic emulation movements and campaigns. This contributed to strengthening the power of national unity and working together to successfully fulfill the province's political tasks.

The well-maintained, clean, and beautiful rural roads are partly thanks to the collective efforts of the people through various movements.
The new rural roads are well-maintained, clean, and beautiful thanks to the joint efforts of the people.

Imbued with the Party's guiding principle of harnessing the people's strength, from the beginning of the year, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has led and directed the implementation of campaigns and emulation movements to strongly awaken the spirit of emulation and creative labor among all strata of the people, creating social consensus to successfully carry out political tasks. Responding to the Provincial Fatherland Front's initiative, 100% of district and commune-level Fatherland Front committees have launched and widely implemented campaigns and emulation movements down to the residential areas with diverse forms, creative approaches, and concretized into specific models and tasks linked to the achievement of political goals, socio -economic development, and ensuring security and order in the locality.

Through the propaganda, mobilization, and appeals of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations, consensus has been created among a large number of members and the people through their active participation in emulation movements and campaigns launched in the area. This consensus among the people is most clearly demonstrated through the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas".

In the first nine months of 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front mobilized resources to support the construction of 77 houses and 35 sanitary toilets for poor households in the province. The Provincial Youth Union mobilized over 20,000 young people to participate in more than 200 activities to protect the environment and respond to climate change. The Provincial Women's Union effectively maintained 2,383 environmental protection models with nearly 40 million members; and 5 models of women's groups producing recycled plastic waste products with 151 members. Members of the Women's Union at all levels also actively participated in the activities of clubs such as: "Women Volunteers for Environmental Protection", "Women-Managed Flower and Green Roads", "Women-Managed Road Sections"...

At the local and grassroots levels, 521 pilot models have been registered and implemented since 2022, and have been effectively maintained to date, with a significant number of participating members in the following areas: household economic development, cooperatives, sustainable poverty reduction, advanced new rural development, model new rural development; community activities involving self-governance and self-monitoring, ensuring security and order, traffic safety, food safety, and environmental protection…

Recently, as part of the "National Unity Campaign for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas," the people of the province have wholeheartedly contributed thousands of man-days to participate in the intensive campaign to clean up, dispose of waste, and sanitize the environment after Typhoon No. 3. For example, the Provincial Youth Union established 171 youth volunteer teams in communes, wards, and towns with over 5,000 members participating in environmental cleanup. The Provincial Veterans Association mobilized over 40,000 members to participate in environmental cleanup and help members whose houses were destroyed or had their roofs blown off to stabilize their lives.

Local authorities also mobilized hundreds of thousands of officials, civil servants, union members, association members, and citizens, along with functional forces, to assist in relocating people from areas at risk of landslides and flooding; urgently support the reconstruction of houses and the repair of infrastructure; and launch campaigns to clean up and dispose of waste and fallen trees.

Ha Long City is one of the localities that effectively mobilized the people's strength in implementing the 7-day intensive campaign to clear and handle fallen trees on main roads, clean up the environment, assist schools, hospitals, landslide-prone areas, provide social welfare, and conduct rescue operations.

Mr. Bui Duc Doan, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Long City, said: The entire city mobilized nearly 65,000 people, about 2,000 vehicles and machinery to serve the environmental cleanup work; 541 volunteer groups were established in villages and neighborhoods with thousands of people participating in clearing fallen trees, cleaning the environment, beautifying the urban area, and assisting people in cleaning up their houses after the storm. Thanks to the active participation of a large number of officials, Party members, and people, just 7 days after the storm, the city's appearance was clean and beautiful again, creating favorable conditions for people's lives and production, business, tourism and service activities to return to normal.

In addition to contributing labor, through the appeal for support from the Provincial Fatherland Front for the people of Quang Ninh province to overcome the damage caused by storms and floods, many organizations and individuals inside and outside the province have proactively participated in contributing money to help people overcome the consequences of typhoon No. 3. By September 30th, 2,641 organizations and individuals had contributed with a total value of over 99 billion VND, including 96 billion VND in cash and over 3 billion VND in in-kind donations.

Since the beginning of the year, many emulation movements and campaigns have been widely implemented, yielding practical results by arousing the spirit of competition and creative labor among all strata of the people, as well as mobilizing resources and the combined strength of the entire society. These include campaigns and movements such as: "All people unite to build a cultured life," "All people protect national security," "Building families with 5 no's and 3 clean's," "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty," "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods," "Lighting up rural roads," "Unity and creativity," "Youth volunteers," "Creative youth," "Youth spearheading the protection of the Fatherland," "Competing for excellent and creative labor, outstanding advanced workers," "Agencies, units, and enterprises achieving cultural standards," etc.

Through the effective implementation of patriotic emulation movements, the campaigns of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations from the provincial to the grassroots level have made significant contributions to promoting economic, cultural, and social development, maintaining national defense and security of the province; and building a clean and strong Party and government.

Building on the achievements already made, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province continues to mobilize the strength of the great national unity to develop patriotic emulation movements and campaigns extensively. At the same time, it regularly focuses on building, identifying, nurturing, and commending new factors, models, exemplary cases, and innovative approaches, replicating advanced models, and highlighting good people and good deeds, in order to promote and encourage emulation movements and create momentum for the successful completion of socio-economic development targets and tasks of localities and the province.
