When the "human aspect" becomes a spiritual remedy.
For an average person, hair is a reflection of their personality, representing youth and self-confidence. But for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy day and night, witnessing clumps of hair falling out after each night's sleep is a devastating psychological shock. It not only alters their outward appearance but also erodes their self-confidence, deeply wounding their mental well-being .
Therefore, each strand of hair donated is not simply a material gift, but a profound act of empathy, helping to soothe pain and warm the hearts of those who have suffered greatly. Sitting quietly in her chair, Ms. Nguyen Thi Duoc (36 years old, residing in Tay Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province) gently stroked her long, silky hair, which she had cherished and cared for for many years, before the hairdresser brought the scissors to her.

Ms. Được's voice choked with emotion: "It wouldn't be true to say I don't regret it. But when I think about the women and children lying in hospital beds, having to look at themselves in the mirror with bald heads because of chemotherapy, I feel my sacrifice is so small. My hair will grow back. But for them, a soft wig is an invaluable source of emotional support, giving them more motivation to continue fighting the disease."
As the scissors snipped, Ms. Được's lock of hair, over 30cm long, was cut and neatly bundled, carefully placed in an elegant box. There was no trace of regret on her face, only a radiant smile and eyes sparkling with happiness at having completed a good deed.
The impact of the "2026 Hair Donation Day - Sharing Love Through Hair Donation" extends beyond adults, touching the hearts of many children. Many parents have proactively brought their children to register, viewing this as a profound and practical lesson in compassion.
These are Nguyen Ngoc Tuong Vy (15 years old, from Nam Nha Trang ward), Nguyen Thanh Thuy (11 years old, from Le Hong Phong street, Nha Trang), and especially Nguyen An Nhien - a little girl only 6 years old from Bac Nha Trang ward. All of them were willing to cut off their long hair, which they had cherished since childhood, in exchange for smiles for strangers.
Looking at her little daughter in her new, energetic look, Ms. Ho Thi Binh (mother of Nguyen An Nhien) shared: “When I explained that her hair could help the sick girls and other children regain their beautiful hair and feel more confident, An Nhien immediately nodded in agreement without hesitation. Seeing her happily sitting in the hairdressing chair, I felt incredibly proud. Through this activity, I want to nurture compassion and sharing in my daughter's heart, helping her understand that the greatest happiness comes from giving.”

A path drawn from the heart and the enduring journey of the community.
In an atmosphere filled with love, 10 volunteer hair salons from Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak worked with all their hearts. They meticulously and gently cared for each strand of hair as if they were cherishing the hopes of the patients.
Mr. Nghia Vo, owner of Nghia Vo hair salon – a professional with over 20 years of experience – carefully bundled up a lock of hair and confided: “I’ve done charity haircuts in the highlands many times, but this is the first time I’ve participated in such a special event. I feel incredibly moved that my scissors today carry a sacred mission. Witnessing children and women alike willingly donating their cherished hair, we professionals feel an even greater responsibility to cut hair beautifully, preserving its maximum length so that not a single strand is wasted.”
To make this third annual event a complete and successful one, the organizing committee has embarked on a long and dedicated journey. Over the past two years, this location has become a haven for generous hearts, receiving over 500 donated hair sets. From this precious source of hair, the organizing committee has completed and donated 20 sets to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Oncology Hospital, providing timely support and encouragement to local patients.

Watching the boxes of donated hair gradually fill up over time, Ms. Truong Ngoc Thuy Anh, General Manager of Novotel Nha Trang, emotionally stated: “The completed hair donations sent are not only a significant number, but also a testament to the community's sharing with patients in Khanh Hoa province. Entering its third year, we hope to continue spreading this spirit even more strongly, so that each donated hair becomes a great motivation to help patients overcome adversity.”
As the final strokes of the scissors came to a close, concluding a morning filled with a range of emotions, Novotel Nha Trang Hotel collected hundreds of high-quality locks of hair from volunteers and guests.

All of this hair will be directly transferred by the organizers to the Vietnam Breast Cancer Network for processing. There, the raw hair will undergo an extremely elaborate and rigorous process of processing, braiding, and weaving to become complete, soft, and natural-looking wigs. These will soon be delivered to patients, helping them regain their familiar appearance, alleviate physical pain, and provide them with inner strength to bravely overcome the disease.
The sun was high in the sky, the midday sun of Nha Trang was becoming intense, but the journey of these strands of hair had only just begun. These loving strands of hair would be transported to hospital beds, to oncology wards, to extend smiles and continue writing fairy tales in everyday life about boundless human kindness...
