Szczesny will return to goal in the next match.

Early morning of May 4, Barca won 2-1 against Real Valladolid in round 34 of La Liga. Marc-Andre ter Stegen started this match, marking his first appearance after a long absence due to knee surgery.

However, coach Hansi Flick later confirmed that Szczesny will continue to start for Barcelona in the next important matches. "Szczesny will be the goalkeeper for Tuesday's game against Inter Milan and the La Liga match against Real Madrid," Flick said at a press conference after the win over Real Valladolid.

The goalkeeper position at Barcelona has become the focus of attention, with Ter Stegen being the current captain and starting goalkeeper for the team before suffering a serious injury. However, coach Flick affirmed that he still has great faith in Szczesny.

Barcelona's board also has no intention of making major changes in goal, either now or in the near future. The team will keep Marc-André ter Stegen, but will extend Szczesny's contract to create competition for next season. At the same time, Barcelona also wants to give opportunities to young talents from La Masia.

Szczesny's agent has started negotiations with Barcelona. Sporting Director Deco wants to extend the Polish goalkeeper's contract in a "1+1" format, meaning a one-year extension with the option to stay for another year if certain conditions are met.
