"The Trio of Revolutionary Songs" donned military uniforms and sang songs praising the country.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On the evening of May 31st at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi), three golden voices of revolutionary music: Trong Tan, Dang Duong, and Viet Hoan, delivered an impressive performance in the program "The Nation's Complete Joy".

Viet Hoan was moved as he recalled memories of the letters… announcing his death.

When the opening notes of the medley "The Road We Take" and "Marching Together in Spring" rang out, marking the beginning of the "Country Full of Joy" concert, the audience fell silent before erupting in emotion.

Under the stage lights, the "trio of revolutionary songs" Trong Tan, Dang Duong, and Viet Hoan appeared in elegant black suits, standing in front of the vibrant red national flag behind them, creating an atmosphere brimming with national spirit.

This was the opening act of a " musical march," as music director Son Thach described it, a journey from North to South, from war zones to cities, from heroic to romantic.

Continuing the program, songs such as " We Go to Battle Today , " "My Vehicle Passes Through the Truong Son Road,"... rang out one after another, full of energy and exhilaration, like the resounding call of those who went to battle years ago.

After evoking deep emotions in the audience with their timeless songs, the "trio of revolutionary songs" changed their costumes and took to the stage in military uniforms.

The atmosphere became even more emotional when the three singers performed heroic songs about the capital amidst bombs and bullets, such as " Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the Air , " "Hanoi, Sleepless Nights," etc.

Trong Tan shared that wearing a soldier's uniform to sing these songs was a special experience, making him feel more deeply about the glorious history and the pride of a generation that dedicated itself to today's peace .

In the proud journey of the Vietnamese army and people, there are indispensable songs filled with the heartfelt emotions of those on the home front, where mothers, wives, and lovers waited day and night.

"Love Chorus ," a song rarely performed by the trio, has now become a moving highlight of their "musical march" with a new arrangement by composer Son Thach. The harmonious voices of singers Trong Tan, Dang Duong, and Viet Hoan successfully portray the story of love and longing amidst wartime.

Singer Dang Duong said that the "trio of revolutionary songs" has performed together in many shows, but this is only the third live show that the three veteran singers have organized together (Photo: Organizing Committee).

For Trong Tan, April 30th is not only a milestone for the country, but also a moment that marked the beginning of his life. He was born in 1976, a year after his father – a special forces soldier – returned from the battlefield after the reunification.

"If it weren't for that April 30th, I wouldn't be who I am today," Trong Tan said emotionally. For the male singer, "The First Spring " is not just a song about peace, but also the first spring in his life.

Unlike Trong Tan, Viet Hoan retains more concrete "fragments" of memory. His childhood was intertwined with images of young soldiers leaving for war right next to his house, many of them only 17 years old. He witnessed tearful farewells and saw death notices delivered silently before his eyes.

“My house had a bomb shelter. I remember once we were eating dinner when the air raid siren sounded, and the whole family rushed down into the shelter. Those memories have never faded from my mind,” Viet Hoan shared, his voice choked with emotion. Being on stage today, singing for those who lived through those years, is something Viet Hoan describes as “sacred.”

The audience became the "chorus" of the concert.

The presence of singer Anh Thơ at the concert was also an impressive highlight. During her performance of "Cô gái mở đường" (The Girl Who Opens the Way) , the female singer proactively removed her in-ear headphones to sing directly with the audience, creating a moment of intimacy and vibrancy.

With her distinctive folk-style voice, Anh Thơ is like a soft, flowing thread connecting the past with the present, between the sounds of her homeland and the fighting spirit of women during wartime.

In addition, People's Artist Quang Thọ - the teacher who guided all three male artists in the early days of their careers, and also the one who "suggested" the trio's collaboration - appeared in the audience as a meaningful encouragement for his students.

Singer Dang Duong shared: "Although we've sung together in many programs, every time we stand next to each other, the emotions remain intact, as if we're reliving the ideals and love we have for revolutionary music."

The atmosphere of the concert lingered not only on the stage but also permeated every seat in the audience. During the performance of "Uncle Ho Still Marches With Us ," when the entire hall joined in singing along, Trong Tan couldn't hide his joy and emotion.

"I'd like to thank our choir today. When I sing karaoke, I always lose to my audience," Trong Tan said humorously, looking towards the audience.

As a veteran who participated in the resistance war against the US, Mr. Nguyen Ba Vi (62 years old, Hanoi) shared that this was one of the rare times he shed tears during a music program.

“Although the concert was postponed due to the national tragedy, I still waited. And today, I am truly satisfied. The artists not only sang, but they recounted the past through music, with all their hearts. I rarely cry, but I shed tears during tonight's concert,” Mr. Vi confided.

After 29 performances by the trio, the program concluded with the song "The Country Filled with Joy ," a triumphant anthem, with the colors of the Liberation flag filling the entire auditorium.
