Three great books on worldly conduct

Vi Lo Da Thoai by Vuong Vinh Binh of the Qing Dynasty, Tieu Song U Ky by Tran Ke Nho and Thai Can Dam by Hong Ung Minh of the Ming Dynasty. This is a bedside trilogy for those who love classical Chinese literature and philosophy.

The Three Great Books on Worldly Conduct (along with the book Thai Can Dam) was just released in January 2024.

Among them, Vi lo da thoai (Conversation around the fire on a winter night) is a famous work by literary critic Vuong Vinh Ban. The book depicts the author sitting and chatting with his close friend around a red fire in the middle of a cold winter night, talking about "settling down and starting a career", morality, self-cultivation, studying, raising children, loyalty, filial piety, thrift... cultivating noble character according to the Confucian spirit.

Tieu Song U Ky is a series of essays by Tran Ke Nho, consisting of 12 volumes, published this time including the best quotes from the first four volumes. The book begins with the word "Tinh", as if wanting to warn people, wanting to awaken those who are still hesitant and dreamy in life.
