Le Thi Quynh Nhu spoke to her lover - Corporal Nguyen Tan Giau - before the ship left the Naval Port of the 129th Naval Division to the continental shelf. Nhu could not hold back her emotions, she wrapped her lover in a scarf, held his hand tightly, and tearfully promised to wait for him to return. Giau felt reassured and happy with the sympathy and duty of the soldiers on the oil rig when they had to be apart for a long time. "I will complete my mission and return, wait for me" - Giau said to Nhu then quickly got off the Truong Sa 04 ship, turned around and waved goodbye to everyone. Giau lives in Thang Nhi ward, Vung Tau city (Ba Ria - Vung Tau). His parents work as sailors. Giau volunteered to join the DK1 Battalion, Naval Region 2, hoping to contribute to his comrades in firmly guarding the sea of the Fatherland even though they are living in peacetime. The love affair between the 21-year-old man and the girl from the sea has been going on for 4 years. Knowing that the ship was going to visit the DK1 platform, where her husband was on duty, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thao and her daughter arrived early to ask for a Tet gift for her husband. Many personal and public concerns kept stirring in the young teacher's heart as the mother and daughter would be celebrating Tet alone this Tet. Hiding her tears, Ms. Thao said that her husband had been at the DK1 platform for 6 months, and the mother and daughter wanted to send a little Tet gift to make their father there feel warm and secure at work, and did not forget to say: "I just hope you are healthy and can work with peace of mind, I will take care of the home front." Her husband is Captain Le Minh Tam, a political commissar of the DK1/16 platform. They have known each other since their college days, and after 14 years of marriage, they have a 4-year-old daughter. She understands that marrying a soldier on the platform will be a disadvantage, sometimes raising children alone all year round, and the time they see each other can be counted on the fingers of one hand. But she said she is happy because even though young couples have to be apart, they have to know how to sacrifice and accept. "He also missed his mother and daughter at sea. One time when he called home and heard his daughter calling 'Dad', he felt like crying," Thao said, her eyes red. In the same mood, Nguyen Thi Minh Thuong - wife of Captain Tran Huy Than (DK1/20 rig) - was also moved to tears when her young son pointed to the ship and asked: "Mom, when will Dad Than come back to me?" To reassure her son, she pointed to the small ship and said softly: "This ship will bring Dad Than back to you." During the 9 months her husband was working at the rig, one day when he called home, she could clearly hear the sound of the waves. The mother and daughter still often called and sent pictures to their father. She said it was sad to be apart, but she always hoped that he and his teammates would be healthy and at ease at work. "My wife can take care of all the family matters on the mainland and take care of the children. We are temporarily apart today so that tomorrow we can be happy," Thuong shared.
