In the 2026 crop season, Vu Thu commune planted over 208 hectares of high-yield, fairly good-quality rice varieties, accounting for 55-65% of the total area (high-yield varieties M1, TBR225, BC15 resistant to bacterial blight); and high-quality rice varieties, accounting for 30-35% of the total area (Bac Thom No. 7 resistant to bacterial blight, Nep 97). Units and cooperatives have urgently organized land preparation and completed planting on 100% of the area before July 10, 2026. Vu Thu commune aims for a rice crop yield of 51 quintals/hectare or more this year, with a total production of over 1,062 tons.

Currently, Vu Thu commune is focusing on leading, directing, and guiding farmers to effectively implement the 2026 crop season and winter crop production. The commune requires minimizing the area of fallow land, using only 1-2 rice varieties in the same field with the motto "same growth time, same planting season, same method" based on the synchronized application of mechanization and scientific and technical advancements. The goal is to gradually build a modern, clean, and organic agricultural system linked to the development of agricultural processing industries, adapting to climate change, and sustainably connecting value chains in the agricultural sector.
The commune is stepping up its efforts to promote and encourage individuals, groups, and households to consolidate land, purchase advanced and modern agricultural machinery, improve production efficiency, and minimize the area of abandoned farmland. It is focusing on solutions for caring for and controlling pests and diseases from the beginning of the season to help crops grow healthily, limit disease-causing agents, especially black stripe dwarf disease in rice. It is also doing a good job of pest control, especially controlling rat damage to crops in the 2026 summer and winter seasons.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tao, Director of Hoa Binh Agricultural Cooperative (Vu Thu commune), said: By June 30th, the area for broadcast sowing and row planting had been completed. Currently, farmers are actively transplanting rice seedlings in the fields according to the schedule and the cooperative's 2026 rice production plan, striving to complete rice transplanting before July 10th. Hoa Binh Cooperative is actively deploying traps and bait to kill rats that damage newly sown and transplanted rice, protecting the crop.
