This afternoon (June 29th), the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the results of the entrance exam for 10th grade in public high schools for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The top-scoring candidate for admission to 10th grade in Hanoi's public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year is Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan, from class 9A, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
Accordingly, Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan's total admission score was 48.50 points, with 9.25 points in Literature, 10.0 points in Mathematics, and 10.0 points in Foreign Language. In addition, Quan took two different specialized subject exams and achieved scores of 8.25 and 7.2.
Before the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the exam results, Quan had already been accepted into the Computer Science specialized program at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences (University of Natural Sciences - VNU Hanoi), the High School for Gifted Students affiliated with Hanoi Pedagogical University, and the English specialized program at the High School for Gifted Students in Foreign Languages. He achieved high scores and received scholarships in all of these programs.
Mr. Cao Van Dung, Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan's homeroom teacher, said that Quan is a student passionate about mathematics, and whenever he has free time in class, he sits down to solve math problems.
"I often call Quân to the board to solve exercises. He always does well and never misses a problem. Quân is also a calm, gentle, and quiet student. I wasn't surprised that Quân got a 10 in English and a 10 in Math, but I was surprised that my son, who is in the specialized Math class, scored 9.25 in Literature. That's absolutely amazing," commented Mr. Dũng.
Teacher Dung added that Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan had also participated in the Computer Science competition for gifted students when he was in 8th and 9th grade. Teacher Dung believes that his student will be one of those who can go further in Computer Science.
